180rwkw no way is that legal.

The majority of the guys on the holden LS1 forums have cars with 200+Rwkw

but thats where the power to weight ratio comes into play..........as in one member has a 240Rwkw car which does 13.6 over the 1/4 mile street legal and insured..........

im with just cars. Im 18 and have a rating 5 i think it was and it was 3.4k to fully insure my skyline. I have just had an accident (not at fault) and the other guy wasnt insured and the process was very easy. Very quick the car was at the repairers in about a day (happened sunday night) they towed the car monday and it was 3 weeks til i got it back. Good service in my view but I guess i wasnt at fault.

thats because they are V8's that do high 13's to low 14's from factory....hardly illegal to add extractors, CAI etc.

the mods they'd pull u up for would be boost controllers and shit like that. lowering (too low) rim sizes etc

Sorry im generalising on skylines in particular.

Modern v8's start out with 260kw so a stage 1 state 200+rwkw would not be hard to achieve.Plus how many modern v8's do you hear of being emissions tested.

But anyhow i think to be able to drive the car fully insured you would not want to be the one dicking arround and be caught with a car that has illegal modifycations that rare found to be the cause of the acident.

So no dicking around and i will be safe!ideal thinking!shrugs!!!I guess thats why they say take it to the track. At least there, there is run off.

but when you get into an accident will they look under the bonnet and pick out all the illegal things before they take it to the work shop and fix it?? and i dont think most mods would cause an accident... it will make your car more powerful... but at the end of the day its the drivers that cause it.

unless you get brake failures because you slam the brakes all the time and the fluid heats up and boils...

Its the same with every insurance company.

Any modification that is not legal, i.e you can get defected for will see the policy as void. I have never had an issue and have made one claim, my car was fairly stockish, due to the nature of the accident *not hooning* the insurance company didn't even bat an eye lid and simply paid to get it fixed.

But should the police report state I was doing burnouts and driving dangerously I am sure they would have had a good look at the car.

All the more reason to 'hide' modifications by running adjustable wastegate actuators (~$120), std bovs and having the tow truck send the car directly to your place after an accident if at all possible.

If you were in an accident due to yourself hooning; now, if the car had less power, then you would have not been in that place at that time as a result the accident would have been avoided. :)

We are all hypothetiacs :) Seen as though i called vigill yoday and my tarnished driving record wouldnt allow for me to be insured through them, well,i might have to go through JCI now.

Cubes do you have insurance on the 32 at the moment?

im insured with JCI and they told me that as long as my mods wer listed on the poilcy, i was covered...and if i added anything, to call them and let them know or the policy would be void... i just had my mods engineered anyway....

Just got off the phone with just cars, to confirm a quote and ask about modifications.

They said i can have unlimited modifications, as long as they are LEGAL AND ROADWORTHY. So i said then what about all the modifications on the car(exhaust air filter fmic etc) he said well u can have them as long as they are legal, they do not have to be engineered. So i said, well if there was anything i could recieve a defect notice for, would that make the modification illegal?

he said YES and i said well then everything is illegal!!!!!!! and he said 'well if thats you are telling me' so basically acting unaware.

So clearly, any modification that you could recieve a defect for IE ALL OF THEM which is not engineered would mean your car is not covered, so they could reject your claim if you made one

My insurer is a specialist one, which, understands that many people have vehicles with mods that are not engineered on them from Hi performance street cars, to custom hot rods, chopper style motorcycles, track/rally spec cars etc. If one of its clients makes a claim and the vehicle is fitted with un roadworthy or non engineered mods BUT that mod/s is NOT the CAUSE for the claim, then generally they will still pay out but if the assessor can prove that the illegal mod was the reason for the claim then the claim can be declined...

R33 GTS-t with exhaust, gauges, pod and coilovers, im 22 with rating 2 in WA paying $1500.

i am charged 1 extra amount for unlimited mods, Just Cars quoted me $1100 but their policy is crap compared to what I have with my current insurer.... Happy to pay the extra premium with piece of mind....
