Ok i have a HKS GT2535 turbo on a RB20det.With the boost controller taken out and a normal peice of hose used between the comp housing and actuator boost will go to 11.5/12 psi and then creep upto 14/15psi.This pisses me off. With the boost controller on it will creep a few psi above what i set it of course.

I never used to notice this when i had a cat it but now it's out it creeps without it.I've taken the rod off the waste gate flap and it made no boost so i know that the watsegate rod does'nt have enought travel. So what im asking is does the HKS actuator have more travel then the stock one?

I have tried a RB25det actuator and boost went to 7psi and then climbed to 12psi i think. So it must be wastegate related.Help :P

How far the rod extends depends on how much preload is wound into it (as the rod has to be extended to reach the pin on the wastegate flap even when closed). I had one but it's gone now, sorry.

Have you tried wiring the waste gate open and seeing if you are getting boost creep due to too a small wastegate outlet or possibly the wastegate flap fouling on the dump?

seems hks turbos dont really like stock act I was having similar problems and a lot of lag until I wound my hks act in really tight now it holds 1 bar fairly well i.e cold night creeps a little.

My hks act has a lot less travel than a stock act when its set to 1 bar and I know Huddy is also having problems with lag on his running a stock act

ATS adelaide turbo service has adjustable act (not hks ones) for $120

My actuator was siezed (and stinking hot after about 6 dyno runs) so we just used a pry bar and bent the bracket holding everything togther forward, as it looked like the wasn't much adjustment left anyway

Works well, holds 1.1bar without a ebc now, and comes on much quicker. Never had any creep issues now, I used to though with the old dump pipe

What sort of dump pipe are you running? Could be back pressure related? Mine's running full 3.5" turbo back now and boost doesn't creep. It drops off up top now becuae the turbo is out of puff!

Thanks for the replies!

BHDave yes i've wired it open, well it was flapping freely, and no boost.

1400r i don't have lag issues i don't think,i get 16/17psi at 3500rpm in 3rd.I'll look into those actuators from ATS,thanks.

Chris i have a 3inch dump pipe and exhaust with no cat.The flap does'nt fowl on the dump at all.If i take the rod off i can open it so much so it seems the rod needs more travel.

I tried a screamer pipe dump and it creeped worse, like heading towards 20psi near red line.I'm in the process of opening up the waste gate hole on the screamer dump for more flow.

Waldo you are a champion!! I just measured the R33 one and not extended it was 20.5cm and extended 22.0cm.Thats 1.5cm that it opens where the HKS is 3cm.Thats a big difference.

Are you selling that HKs actuator?
