Can I Do This?

hey,

I was just wondering if it was possible to run a couple of amps, subs and sum speakers in a boot on a seperate battery to what i run the headunit? like have a battery in the boot and run the amp n that off it. and use the battery under the hood to run my headunit?

yep. you need to be able to charge the 2nd one of course but its VERY doable.

it needs to be a "dry cell" battery and i know its called priority charge so your main battery gets most of the charge or sumthing on that...

dont hold me for how the priority chrge works but i know its called a dry cell and you need it on a proirity charge

a dry cell means something like they dont carry water in em they work of some other way which means no battery acid leaking into your boot

you need a charging regulator to do the job properly - about $400 or so from a 4wd shop. decent cable to connect it togetherand a decent battery. Optima or exide do decent dry cell items.

geeze will you stop payin me out for that....im just curious about the system and wondering if it could be done...And itz also to help my friend out his system always drains his normal battery.

If your mate runs his system without the engine on then the battery will go flat... what do you expect lol

he is setting it up to enter sound off comps....so i dare say he does run it with the engine off

get a capacitor... that would be the smarter option i rekkon to make ur battery not go flat for longer... if u get a big cap it'll do the same job as a second battery wouldnt it??
