I am cancelling the day because WSID have not responded to me for over a week now and therefore nothing has been confirmed.

We will endeavour to organise another SAU drag day in around March next year but until then we will still be fighting WSID to get our money back.

Basically what happened was that after the last day was cancelled due to rain, WSID told me that they would be charging us $1330.90 in cancellation fees.

This was contrary to what I had been up to that point led to believe by them and so you can understand that I was not happy.

There is another issue outstanding and that is WSID want to ban all cars faster than 11.000 from our days. Again, this was not a rule we knew about beforehand which not only affects the people that run faster than 11.000 but also affects the numbers of entrants.

I want to stress that both of these issues are still sensitive and unresolved which means that discretion in relation to what you say, where you say it and to whom you say it is required from everybody reading this.

We await a response from WSID and will go from there.

In the meantime we will endeavour to refund everybody although as WSID still have our $4000 deposit we will not be able to do this in full at the moment. Please post your attitude to being one of the later people to be refunded.

Thank you.

Thanks for the update, Adam. It is unfortunate that this has happened, but with so little time left until the proposed date, the cancellation isn't unexpected. Was anything about cancellation fees being payable given to SAU NSW in writing before the drag day?

how unfortunate....in hindsight a hasty decision to cancel the day on the 5th....please forward full refund when it becomes avail.(two drivers)

Jeez man! You really do find it easy to offend people on here. I get along just fine with you on the phone and in person but think about what you're typing. It wasn't a hasty decision in the slightest. I took the longest time I could reasonably take given the situation. I would have had plenty more complaints if I said lets race, we got started at say 11am and then the rain came back washing the whole thing out.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I recall something about being advised by the officials that the braking area was still wet and hence racing wasn't recommended or possible.

Either way, at least now we know that it's not on, we can focus on other events.

WSID street meet anyone? :(

WTF??? what was so "offensive" about that...am i not entitled to my opinion. Just because i have a differing point of view to you, (a lot of people agree with what i said just dont have the spine to speak their mind) does not mean i cannot voice it...this country is a democracy and premotes free speech does it not?. Grow up Adam and stop being so bloody "precious".

ps.i did use the word hindsight...and it also tells me it didnt rain at 11o'clock...actually it didn't rain all day

LMFAO u whine like my bloody mother dont worry adam i liked your answer anyways let the girl have a cry

Had we have started the drag day and then an hour later it rained and WSID called the day off the cancel fee would be acceptable but with the weather the way it was and the drag day cancelled before we even set foot on track the cancel fee is way over the top.

Paul: It was raining within 10km of WSID on the way to the track that morning whilst I was driving along the M4. Every direction we looked in the sky at the track it looked like it was going to rain any minute. We had a bbq at the river which is 21km west of WSID and it drizzled for most of the day (it's also the way the rain comes, from Penrith -> Eastern Creek). So whilst it was not raining at exactly 9am whilst we were all standing in the wet pits, it most certainly would have rained no less than an hour later and pretty much on and off the entire day.

Last weeks Wed nite street meet was cancelled and it hadn't rained for the 4-6hrs leading up to when they start (6pm). They cancelled due to high winds and patchy rain. The conditions on that day/nite were 10x better than at our Drag day and they still cancelled it.

I personally believe the best decision was made on the day.

I wrote in "hindsight", not talking about the decision made on the day. Our formula ford driver was competing at the A1 grandprix...he confirmed with us late Sat afternoon that it didn't rain all day. Not having a go at anyone here just voicing my opinion....which having cost us $805 (not including car prep.) for nothing, i think im entitled to.

DiRTgarage, you dont seem to realise the meaning of what you wrote, here is the meaning of hasty:

Hasty - done with very great haste and without due deliberation (wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn)

and in case you are not sure about deliberation,

Deliberation: careful consideration; "a little deliberation would have deterred them"

(wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn)

AboBob did not make "in hindsight a hasty decision", so of course he is offended!

I was at A1 on saturday and can confirm it did not rain there, but i nearly 100% expected it to at some stage.

You really can't blame anyone for that, you live 7hrs from the track and have a heavily modified car. That is the price you pay for living in a traffic-free, smog-free, coastal area with a 9sec car. Their will -always- be additional costs compared with the 13sec Sydney Metro 20-something driver.

When did having an opinion constitute blaming anybody?? you really don't get it do you?

Someone in this thread doesnt get it Paul.

I cant wait to come along to the event you organise for the club :)

Organising a BBQ and hiring a venue for the Newcastle cruise.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=94348 ..why dont you come along...id love to see you face to face!

Most people realise that the correct decision was made on the day. One can only imagine the amount of whinging that would have occured should the day have gone ahead and then it rained an hour or two later.

Seriously, people need to get over it and get on with life. Arguing and taking pot shots at one another isn't going to get us anywhere and isn't going to achieve anything. Besides, there will be other drag days! :)

Thanks for the update Adam - appreciate the effort that you and the SAU committee put into organising these events.

Thanks blk, if they went back and actually read what was said instead of jumping on their high horse and mouthing off. I had an opinion that i thought that they could have waited longer and/or even consulted the people who paid (the drivers) for the track before making there decision. Only my opinion, it may not be yours, but shouldn't be ridiculed by "executive comittee" and their hangers on about it.
