Anyone fixed this?

DSC01908.jpg

My passenger side is like that. I checked in FAST and it seems to be available as a spare part, but I haven't got around to ordering one yet. About $40 (trade) from Nissan. I had the door trim off and it simply slides into a channel on the trim itself.

If you like I can dig out the part numbers, although having the VIN of the car is the best way with FAST.

please do get the part number as my drivers side is like that. and i'll order a new one if they are just $40.

For an 89-91 R32 GTR:

80834-04U00, Weatherstrip Front Door Inside, RH

80835-04U00, Weatherstrip Front Door Inside, LH

Having not ordered and received one as yet I haven't confirmed for myself that this is the correct part, but from the description and what is shown in FAST I believe this to be correct (I'm just covering myself a little here....knowing some of the quirks of the Nissan parts system :) )

80834-04U00 is the drivers side one. i've got it sitting in front of me. it's the correct part for 32 GTR and 32 GTST. I don't have a passenger side one so i'm not sure on that number, but if you got the first one right the second one should be fine too.

Good to hear. I've just ordered a RH and a LH, hopefully will be here next week.

Is this what causes the scratches on the outside of the window?

I just had the windows tinted, if it is cheap I will buy this, replace the glass (anyone know how much this is?) and get it re-tinted, it looks even more shiznit after geting it tinted!!

Thanks!

um, if you look super carefully, that part is on the *inside* of the car.. so will not prevent the scratches on the outside.

To fix the outside from getting scratched (or more), remove your mirrors, remove the inside card, and there is a screw at the end of the weather strip. Slide that out and apply some felt (I used carpet) to the old padding using superglue.

    • From the pictures I have when doing the job the flywheel is the same diameter, I don't think they're playing weird tricks like putting weights at the outer diameter to increase flywheel inertia or anything like that. The OEM flywheel is definitely heavier, but it's not a huge difference. Quoted weight savings of the clutch is 2 kg so I can't imagine the flywheel being lighter than ~7 kg. Kind of regret not weighing it before the clutch went into the car but as far as driveability goes I have no complaints.
    • HKS trigger kit should be very easy to integrate with a Link. It's a 36-2 crank trigger. Hard part is finding the motivation to take off the timing belt and everything on the front of the engine to install it. You also need to cut out a hole in the oil pump housing so the sensor can read the trigger wheel. Changing out the cam sensor for a 24 tooth setup is probably good enough but as others have mentioned depending on what underlying assumptions are changed it becomes more of a problem. Reading the crank state off of the cam is an abstraction that works in the general case, but if you have an edge case it makes less and less sense. There is a GTX2860 gen 2 that can take a compact 5 bolt housing so it's direct bolt on but I'm not 100% sure of what's involved. Peak compressor efficiency drops off a bit on these turbos vs -5s, 77% vs 73% but you get way, way wider region of operation. The -5s have a really strange surge line in their compressor map that is all over the place. If you think the hot side on the -5s aren't open enough you can try the Tomei T550B turbos which a local tuner seems to be happy with:
