Awesome, my brakes are TOTALLY gone, full braking and my car just eases to a stop....that, is not good

But seriously, even though I got no food (was this spose to be in the price) it was well worth the $150 :O. Well done to the organisers, well done to the cars that beat 62 seconds :O

Topaz R32 GTR best time was 63.1 seconds B)

I had a blast cant wait for the next one.

Also it was tracksomething wasnt it?

My best time was 1.07 I came 22nd out of 24 cars but I think thats pritty dam good for a GTST

i broke the 62 second bracket but couldnt improve as brakes were gone ( maybe they are with my tyres which are also missing). the absolute best time i have ever had.. cant recommend enough!!!!!!

easily worth the money. topaz the food was there but you had to grab it. my wife told me this important piece of info just after the last hotdog was taken. wished i had grabbed some too.

kermit

Congratulations to all the organisers for the great effort and for making the tuition fun.

I hope this event takes off and becomes a regular occurance.

My brakes are fine :( combination of the Brembo brakes and slower velocity :(

The "compliance" Hankooks may not be be too good when I have a look

Would like to find the guys from six months ago on this forum (eastern staters)who told me that 35's were not a real Skyline and that they were slow slugs.

I'd like to shove a 63.3 ( I think) up there noses

Only hassle for me was towards the end I was finding places to better my time but kept getting baulked. Something I'm sure the organisers will address for the next event.

Nothing like standing in pit lane and watch/listen to those GTR's zoom by :D

Can I send my deposit for the next one Brett.

Heres the lap times

I know (at least) the WRX STi and XR6T times in 2nd and 3rd were done by instructors very late in the night.

So it was an R32 GTR One Two :(

And the Evo 9 too.

Went from running in the 1.08's to a 1.02

Thought about getting an instructor to drive mine but I'm a bad passenger :(

The TT Supra was an instructors time also just above yours, so you jump another spot ;)

All in all was a great night, well organized, with great timing equipment (From the V8 Supercars) and is highly recomended to anyone considering it in future.

Myself well I had a great lose at the hairpin on my 2nd lap inspired by Kermits lose 1/2 a lap earlier :( , probably 100kmh sideways as we hit the sand! if you had a bucket and spade you could have made some great sandcastles with the sand from 'inside' my car.....Seriously!!

The off Seemed to Stuff up my HICAS however :( as the dash light is now on and Steering very heavy, only did few laps after that but still managed fastest time of the night a 1:01.1, my 'very first' lap of the night was a 1:02.2! ;) I reckon if i'd stayed out longer I could've scraped in a high 59 :O

BTW, The Glowing brake discs and 'Sparks' from my Brakes was a bit of a worry as they were coming thru both open windows :O but would've looked pretty good from the outside!

They also mentioned to us as a reference point that a HQ holden Lap record is a 1:02, and a 49hp Formula Vee a 57 I beleive :D which is sobering news, the short track especially is more about neatness and holding speed thru the corners than outright power

Anyone get any pics of the night, or links to....?

This is all I have....waiting for my instructor....dont think anyone wanted to ride with me after my errr 'Little' off :(

Heres some video footage of Kermits and my GTRs, very dodgy Quality footage, but the cars sound Great B)

http://image-cache.skylinesaustralia.com/p...ta/500/GTRs.wmv

BTW, thats your Mrs laughing in the background Kermit, she is very unsympathetic :(

thats some cool footage mate . after that "unusual "line through the corner i kept braking too early which i felt cost me probably half a second a lap . so nice to hear my wife laughing as i spin off the track.

i knew i was in trouble going down the straight as soon as the instructor went " oh shit !" . then went in to a gracefull spin made even better when PSI GTS11 went off at the hairpin half a lap later.

not bad times though as i also thought that the STI and XR6 Turbo were being driven by the instructors which make me second fastest and i have never run a car at the track before.

instructor also ran my car for a few laps and i beat his time by 1 second.

i love my GTR . it took everything and smiled back at me although it was scary seeing how high the oil temp got after 4 laps.

i now need rear tyres and brake mods before the next track day.

kermit aka mark colborne

shit, i was just behind everyone in the evo's and gtr's in the 32 at 12th. ohh yeah ;)

just need more grunt, id catch people on the corners and wouuld be left dead on the straights :)

good fun, thanks guys.

    • Do you plan on using 98 or e85?
    • This should be pretty easy. 200rwkW is just about the max power out of an RB25 stock turbo. So, 12ish psi on a 2.5L. That boost limited mainly by the prospect of seeing the turbine in the cat after the smoke show. A steel wheeled equivalent would likely happily do ~220rwkW at something like 17 psi, where it would probably be bumping into the usual limits of such a sized turbo. These things have like a .48 rear. You will not need the 0.86 rear. The 0.64 will be fine. In fact, if you were looking at various mid-200rwkW options for RBs, most of them would be in a 0.64 rear. So, I think you will definitely want to be no bigger than that for a same sized but probably even more efficient (at making power) modern engine.
    • Change the subframe bushes, transforms the car.
    • For something a little more serious, Davinci Resolve is about the best there is for free video editors. No expiration dates or watermarks, completely free.
    • Well, it's taken me until the last week of 2024 to actually do something on the Skyline but I consider it a good head start to 2025's efforts! I managed to justify (to myself anyway...) my purchase of the lift table. It made taking the rear subframe out a lot easier than it would have been without anyway! Everything is out and stripped down ready for a clean then powdercoating.  She's pretty grubby under there but pretty good condition for a 38 year old Japanese tin bucket. 12 years of zero street time have obviously helped that... I need to decide which of the factory suspension arms I will keep and replace so I only get what I'm keeping powdercoated.  Baby steps but it's a start!
