Just by way of comparison (& maybe to give some people an aiming point) have a look at the following times from the speedeventseries held at Wanneroo in December last year. There are times available for both the short & the long circuits. :D

There is a four wheel drive class as well a heap of others.

If anyone has been bitten by the motor racing bug the next event is at Wanneroo on the short course in February.... The calender is on www.speedeventseries.com

For one, I wouldn't mind the company. There were only three GT-R's there last time which itself was an improvement...

Just remember, you don't get faster sitting at home on the play station. :)

Dont forget those times above will have been done on slicks ;)

You can cut approx 4 seconds from your time running a set of R-Comps.....

Um, it was Scott's first go & he was running on road tyres. Not sure about four seconds, but R compounds certainly do help your lap speed. Point is to go out and have fun. The SES mob are as friendly, interested & helpful bunch of people as you will come across. So get involved!

Was'nt really talking about his time specifically, but most of the other catorgories represent there would have been ;)

Most of the cars running in the Speedeventseries use R compounds. There is just about every type of car entered - the only notable absentees tend to be FPV & HSV's. Point is that it is a great way to get you & your road car involved in competition.

Having said that Gary Wests' F4000 Lola wasn't on R compounds - he used slicks to break both course records. How does 46.44 seconds for the short course & 52.26 for the long course sound?

I dont think Ill be able to keep up with that, But we think we know why my car was letting out some smoke so hopfully before the next event ill have it tuned and running Higher boost like to see how much quicker ill be then ;D

Official results are up :(

I could'nt agree with DJR81 more as this is my favourite form of motorsport and would love to get involved, but for now I will not be returning until I have a set of R-Comps.

Almost did'nt pass scrutineering with my tyres on the night, did'nt realize they were so bad, probably most of the reason my car was somewhat of a handfull!

So did no one get any pictures...? :)

I was one of the non-Skyline drivers from the night and I'd like to say thanks for all you guys coming down. 1/3 of all the cars were skylines, and without that support, the night probably wouldn't have gone ahead. I had an absolutely fantastic night even though I only come 24th in a field of 25 (Only had an NA 1.6L). It was great to hear the sounds of the skylines roaring down pit straight.

Oh and the 1:02 from the Evo IX was done by the instructor, not by the driver Steve :P

It was quite a show one of you guys put on with the sparks from brakes :)

Leaning over the barrier watching your car go past was good too.

Sounded very throaty that's for sure. And looked pretty quick to me too.

Made my daughter want to have a go in her new Impreza RX.

Maybe I can talk her into it.

Having fun and improving your skills at the same time is the main aim.

ill sort out the footage from the roof cam and post it asap

cheers

Thought I saw a car with a roof cam there... :P

Heres some footage of Franzs 300zx going round the short curcuit.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
