not sure .... the dyno I had it on seems to be out by a bit and It said on 1.2 bar I had 320rwhp, but I've powered away from a R33 with 300rwhp ... So i have no idea. Hopefully I'll get it retuned in the new year and stick it on a decent dyno and get a more accurate figure.

Very interesting read....

Make me shy away from a GT30 again... I think this time ill do what you have done... Just with a new plenium (i like the tidy look with a front mounted throttle body)...

Thanks for the ideas...

Just got the car dynoed on saturday - the readout was a bit out I think compared with the dynos everyone else uses on this forum - peak power is 275rwhp!!

The car has been on two different dynos since I've had it and the first gave a readout in shootout mode (dyno dynamics) of 225 rwhp at only 10 psi at 5000 rpm - we couldn't take it any further as the fuel pump was buggered.

Then I installed a pfc, new fuel pump and on the same dyno we used on saturday I got a peak power reading of 210rwhp at 7000rpm - the dyno definately reads a lot lower than others as the car was going a lot faster.

On saturday we used 18 psi and interestingly the boost falls off after 6000rpm - we think it's my rear muffler which has a 2.5 inch pipe going through it so I'm looking for a bigger one now.

Driving the car has been a bit disappointing - you have to rev it to get going as a lot of timing has been pulled out where it comes onto boost - before the tune it had around 7 degrees extra timing in the midrange and it easily spun the wheels as it ramped up - no knock either so I'm wondering how it would go with a few degrees put back into the midrange.

I'm definately not frying the tyres like you slyr33 - last week I purchased some new 275 hankook 104's and they grip pretty well - it does have some wheelspin but not as much as prior to the tune.

Anyway all in all it was a bit of a disappointing day - next week I'm thinking about putting the car on the dyno we used the first time a year ago if I can get a bigger muffler on it.

Cheers

yes, that is dissapponting, either the tuner is missing something or you have a major restriction somewhere! the 2.5 inch pipe should not reduce power by THAT much! as the power your making isnt much better than a stock turbo can do, even if the reading is a bit low!

also you will find that the turbo wont hold boost over 6grand even if you remove your exhaust. i have a straight thru system and boost always drops back to 17psi at the top end. so dont worry about that, as you should still make lots of power at 17psi.

whos doing the tuning?

Just had a good look at the muffler - it's got a silly 7 inch tip on it which made the 3 inch pipe look small - so it's 3'' after all.

Glad that you get the drop off in boost too - hopefully there's no problems with my setup then.

Took it for a big drive today - stinking hot - I put back quite a bit of timing in the 10 - 14 load points at 2800 - 3200 rpm (ignition map) and have no knock - seems to get through that region a bit faster now.

I think I'll put it on the rollers this week for a quick power run or two to get a more accurate reading. That dyno must read low - hell you can get 275 rwhp with a stock turbo.

I'd be interested in seeing your pfc ignition and injection maps - I've put mine on microsoft excell spreadsheets and can post them up if you're interested.

Had a bit of a bad run in they last week! Got those tyres fitted and the guy at the tyre shop gouged one of my rims badly on the tyre remover - then on saturday at the dyno the dill who owns the place decided to do some spray painting at the back of the workshop - the dyno fan sucked the overspray in and all over the front of the car. You really deal with some dead heads at workshops. If they can't do the job without damaging your property they shouldn't be in the industry - hell when I was 13 I knew how far overspray can travel.

Cheers!

GTST25 can you send me you excell maps to compare to mine with the high flow setup.... Wanta see the differences...

If you print this off and goto your ignition map - maybe just write down the differences?

Also had trouble uploading straight from excell so had to print off and scan onto a photo program.

I think I've got a boost leak so am going to make up a couple of bits of pipe - one with a blanked off end and the other with a valve fitting so we can do a pressure test - it really feels like I've got a boost leak.

does anyone know if it's possible to buy just the dump pipe for this turbo? (if you dont buy the kit)

i dont think sooo.... :(

i just check the HKS website under Extension kit (aka dump pipes) and they only sell them for stock application

What load point are you reaching on your PFC map so we can align it with your ignition table

I haven't seen it go over load point 16. Normally it'll spike to 16 then run across the rev range on load point 15.

I'll post up the injection table too when I have a chance.

Pressure tested the pipework today to 2 bar and no leaks at all apart from the factory blow off valve which leaks all the time even with the vacuum hose connected through with positive pressure.

I tried dad's rb20det blow off valve and it was exactly the same - they don't leak much but do leak a bit all the time. Also tested the wastegate and it begins to open at .9 bar. We thought there must be a leak somewhere as before the tune we had the pfc boost control set at 40 duty cycle, 1.2 bar, but during road testing the boost fell away to 13 psi - we had to increase the duty cycle to 70 to get the 1.2 bar again.

Cheers

If I get the 2835 pro-s turbo on it's own (not the kit) then I'll have to get a custom dump made.

by the looks of it yeap :( thou maybe email nengun and ask them as they sell the turbo by itself and the kit, so maybe they can work something out for you

Im not sure but you seem to be running very little timing at load point 16, like 14 degrees is nothing. Why dont you try and increase this (you can add 1 degree to the whole table and test it, watch for knock and move upwards, say 2 degrees, this should give you a nice increase in power) I dont think my timing drops below 19 and im running 20psi

lol.. m&m since i'll be using my car on the track for clubsprints.. i dont want a big laggy ass t04z. but thanks for the suggestion :P

Hey dude nice to see you finally got them rims.......im getting a set soon...in white though !

hehe as for the T04Z....mate its all about driving style.

Gaurage Saurus R32 GTR uses a T88-33D and still manages a 56 sec lap around tsukuba..

    • The cam I am actually putting in (a few posts up) is actually smaller than my current one. At least duration/overlap wise. All the chop stuff I hear just sounds like an engine running badly, because it is. I then envision driving it around in 1st gear and being massively sad about it bucking to the beat of said chop. There is an idle video of someone with a similar cam floating around the internet, but mine is a custom cam (so is his) so it'll never be the same, plus the fact exhausts are entirely different. What I want to do is put some bullet mufflers/race mufflers in to replace a couple sections straight pipes that currently replace the two extra cats that I don't need. But this is even further down the line!
    • I can tell you now, when the bracket that the little hydraulic ram attaches to snaps, with a subframe, and V8 from an AMG C63 on it, it sounds like someone letting shotgun off right beside you. It leaves your ears ringing, and a huge thankfulness that you never ever put a body part under something heavy that's only supported by a hydraulic lift...
    • Still not a guarantee fix. I used a high quality butyl-mastiq (the black goo that's not really silicone nor polyurethane, same stuff they use from the factory that just spreads out like melty cheese), and I still get lots of water on both sides of the trunk when raining or washing the car. I also suspect the factory spoiler rubber gasket might not be sealing well, so I'm thinking of adding a thin layer of grey silicone around the bolt holes on both sides and see if that's where it also leaks from. The biggest issue is that these cars don't come with a drain hole on each side like other coupes and hatchbacks.
    • I hate it, but maybe he could paint it Monster jam style and call it...godzilla?
    • Would seem to me to be appropriate to go GTR style bar. There are options with and without N1 vent holes, with the GTR lower lip integral (because FG copy). https://justjap.com/search?q=r32 bumper
