would one of these hks 2835 pro's be to big for an rb20, would i see full boost by 4000-4500 rpm??

i would most definitly say this turbo is too big for an rb20, it would be much laggier. To set up an rb20 to respond like a rb25 with 2835pro, you would want the hks2530. You are talking about a lower compression motor with a whole 500cc less, thats going to make a significant difference, and for a street car i wouldnt be doing it.

"Physically it's not much bigger than the stock rb25 unit" - i would say it is significantly bigger, especially if your talking about one on a rb20!

cool, thats not too expensive then.

Do you think there will be any increased boost response due to more heat being retained? or is it just to insulate the engine bay from getting too hot?

Cheers.

Just make sure you get the more expensive black coating.

Not too sure about increased boost response - I just got the coating to stop the housing going rusty and hopefully reduce engine bay temps a bit.

For priced I'd look at nengun or greenline.

Have a look through the photos - yep it comes with everything to fit up.

I've been having some fun with the car now - it doesn't feel as fast as it is - it's seen off a supercharged LS1 with 421hp at the tyres and quite a few other built engine combo setups.

Just that turbo delivery I spose.

It's great sitting there with your quiet rb ticking over and beating some of these noisy V8's!

Don't forget the fuel economy. :D

Thats what I find so awesome about the RB30DET.. It has so much off idle lunge, more than a ls1. LS1's require a few rev's not to bog down it appears.

Yep I've been for a ride in a LS1 and I must say that I was disappointed in the power these ''300'' kw machines make.

They are quick but you soon come to realise that you're driving something substantially faster - you just get use to it and want more!

Make sure cubes that you fit a BIG turbo to that rb30 - something that makes well over 300rwkw - no excuses now as you've got plently of torque down low.

I was driving a na vl a couple of days ago and they've got so much more torque than the 25's - so easy to drive and potter around in towing trailers etc.

Cheers

Ive ran a few of these LS1's and there quite easy to get 250rwkw from with just bolt ons. My brother has one with 250rwkw and its still no match for my R33. I was neck and neck with one which has pushing over 300rwkw with heads and cam mods and it runs 11.5 at the track. Also ran one with a small blower on it and he couldnt catch me. Not bad for only mid 230rwkw's from my 33.

I think you pmed me the other day - sorry I didn't answer but have been busy. I'm in Europe and can't remember the name of the goo we used on the dump but I think gcg sell it - give them a ring and I'm sure they'll let you know. My dad will know - you can pm him his user name is grigor.

The car has done over 10 000 k's with this turbo - no gasket just coppermix goo and no exhaust leaks.

Cheers

Sorry mate, I definitely PM'd rezz. I will look into it a bit more before I try and use some coppermix. Thanks though!

No worries,

Have had a lot of pm's about the 2835 - looks like a few guys are fitting the kit.

Keep us posted an how it goes once tuned - will be very interested in seeing how it goes.

will do :domokun:

hoping for 330-350rwhp on a safe tune, then hoping to switch on the antilag and see when i can bring it on boost and see if it will make an extra power (aiming to bring out some responds with the antilag and not increase the peak power)

that power should be fairly easy with a safe tune. will be interested to see how antilag goes. it wont increase max power (well i wouldnt expect it to). it will certainly take away turbo lag on gear change

i think thats when its useful

rb 30 bottom end is good for antilag.

What type of computer are you running?

I'll be doing a retune with water methanol later on this year - the car feels great on a cold night but doesn't like hot humid days. Hopefully the water methanol will give it the power and response it gets on the cold nights.

Still - being able to chirp 4th is fun!
