the vac hose going from my stock boost gauge (i think) keeps cracking and i feel like i lose power because of this. i've blocked it off with a small nail because im not using the gauge anymore but the stock hose keeps cracking and leaking.

i know i can just go and get a new vac hose, but is it normal to have such a massive power loss?

are there any more effective ways to block the line off?

Mine keeps on cracking as well, but I haven't noticed any real power loss. I'm just gonna get a new piece of hose to fix it, but I was wondering about blocking it off as well for the time being.

I had an old VK once... 3.3L straight 6. If it developed a vacuum leak anywhere in its jungle of vacuum pipes, it'd just about stall in neutral, so I guess it wouldn't be impossible for a more advanced engine to lose some power because of it.

I'd suggest tapping off the nozzle in the enginebay wherever the hose connects to. No more rubber pipe cracking!
