Hi,

I am having som difficulty removing my crank gear. It seems to be on there VERY tightly. I can't seem to get pulleys in behind it becaise it is a. very close to the block and b. blocked by the half-circle below the gear which I guess protects it from rocks etc.

Two methods have been suggested to me to remove it. These are to a. tap holes into the gear and use a pulley to yank it off and b. break it off.

I have to admit that I am leaning towards option B as a new crank gear is only $50 and it seems like a few less steps. I would like to know how well people have gone with this? Any help would be fantasic!

Thanks,

Ben.

I wish it did just slide off - but it seems to be very stuck. I am lead to believe that this is a relatively common problem, but maybe we are just doing it wrong. What are the steps you use to get it to slide off?

I drilled into the front and used a gear puller to get it off. Saves hitting shit with chisels. :P

Mine was rusted on on the old rb20, not that you could see it until the gear was off.

The rb25 one slid off and on easily.
