just curious as to why you would take it back to the same builders that snapped your inlet cam then made you pay for the new 1?

nah, i paid for it originally, but they are taking it off the bill...

I have to wonder why you picked people to work on your car who seemingly have NFI what they are doing.

I find these finger pointing type threads quite amusing, especially the ones where said accuser ends up looking like an asshat.

i havent mentioned any companies.

Well this doesnt sound good, did the machine shop service the head and reassemble it with the cams in place before sending it back to the workshop your car is at? Or did your workshop install the cams themselves

I rebuilt my bike engine, so its got me thinking..... new pistons, bored / honed / resleaved / mineral washed piston bores?

Could have been the new rings on the new pistons scrapping metal away from the fresh sparkling bores, seeing that now the sound is going away the rings should be bedding themselves in. Be careful during run-in though.

Id suggest a oil change asap due to the heap of metal files that you'll find in the oil...... but thats normal. Then another oil change around 100kms into your run in, and again at 500kms if you want to be pedantic (I would!).

a noise that goes away... the worst kind of situation, especially after something like and engine rebuild. see if you get the oil analysed or something, maybe a leakdown test - might be clutching at straws but what else can you do. if there's a real bad problem hopefully a few dyno runs will reveal it.
