Hks Actuator Set Up

hey guys im just about to put my hks actuator on, now how do i go about setting this up (rod length) i need it to hold 18psi with boost controller as stock one didnt hold any more than 12 -13psi, to make it stronger do i wind the rod in closer so it holds the wastegate closed harder?

I would also like to see how steady the HKS actuators hold boost at 18 psi

Yes shorten the length of it to increase boost. I had no problems holding upto 19psi on my HKS

did the boost spike much or taper off towards redline???

It tappered off, probably due to the fact the turbo was running out of breathe.

I would have thought that a HKS 2530 would be free flowing even at that boost level?

I was getting 19psi very early and it would hold it to 5500rpm and then it would fall away pretty sharply, say 13psi over 6000rpm. Now ive got a 2535, i get 20psi in the middle, a little later and it holds 18psi to 6500rpm. Im now no longer using the HKS actuator but an electriconic controller. Maybe with the short arm it doesnt open enough high in the rev range, just a thought

yeah, i didnt think it would hold boost as steadily as an EBC...

see i am using the hks actuator and an apexi power fc bost kit, and am unsure on how the adjustable actuator setup works, if you shorten the rod heaps the wastegate doesnt open up very far when its on full boost...wouldnt this cause boost creep?
