Yeah looks like the more boost gave it a tad more power. But nevertheless, its more consistant aswell, which is important! It looks like your running a bleeder.. is that true?

Turbosmart e-Boost EBC. The fluctuations in the boost curve are more to do with the Microtech MAP sensor reading the natural pressure spikes that occur in the inlet manifolds of engines, these spikes are usually not seen, i.e. smoothed out with boost guages.

IOne question I do have though, some people have mentioned that doing this mod takes away the linear feel of the throttle.  Does that mean that everyone that has a after market BOV that plumbs back get's the same results??  I've never used one so I wouldn't know.

YES. It sure does. With my aftermarket BOV, on seperate pipe, and I have the stocker blocked off with a plate, it makes boost hit harder!

If sometimes changing gears just as you hit boost, it is quite a big thud of the disengaging of my clutch (it's a ceramic one) and I can notice that the car just hit boost "right then" when I changed.

If that makes any sense ;)

I for one, will be keeping my BOV mod for when I go to the drags :(

have any people experienced problems?? I mean going by whats involved there shouldnt be ANY dramas at all. Ive done this mod and really like it. Ive gotten to the stage now where i have forgotten ive even done it. Thanx heaps for sharing information about this mod, its well worth the 5 mins it takes to do :cheers:

Blocking the hole should in effect make boost come on quicker and hold higher boost.

the s15 stock BOV has a hole in the middle of the piston to allow blow by where as the R33 stock bov has that little whole.

I would in fact use some loctite just in case, however when installing it back in the surrounding pressure will hold it in place as long as the screw/nail is flat it will seal correctly.

I was considering doing a similar thing, however went the whole hog of installing a GFB stealth...

I've done this mod for nearly a year now.

Response has improved noticeably.

I have done both mods listed here.

Screw: positives - different sound,

negatives- causes surge at part throttle, reduces boost ramp speed from part throttle to full throttle, actually holds less boost due to more vacuum present on back of BOV piston.

Dodge mod: positives- diferent sound, holds up to 30psi due to less pressure difference between both piston sides.

negatives- causes slight surge at part throttle and reduces part throttle to full throotle boost up time.

I have tried both mods.

The screw mod causes surge at part throttle and increases boost up time from part throttle to full throttle(due to no air being bleed through at part throttle opening). Also actually holds less boost than standard due to more vacuum being present on the back of the BOV piston.

The Dodge site mod causes slight surge at part throttle, holds up to 30psi boost due to less pressure difference between both piston sides. Also increases part throttle to full throttle boost up time.

With the little pipe thing, did you just leave it to vent into the air ??

Do you think it would cause any problems venting into the air, as air would pass out the pipe when the BOV opens. Maybe the small amount of air that it'd be wouldn't cause the problems that the ext venting BOV's cause.

I suppose if you got really fussy you could plumb the little pipe thing back into the return pipe for the BOV ??

If I get bored one day I might give it a try.

Boostd, in your first post you said the dodge method decreases part throttle to full throttle boost up time, in your second it said increases part throttle to full throttle boost up time, i assume you mean the latter.
