Can You Do A Hill Start In An Auto?

Hey everybody i was just on the phone to a mate who's mates battery has gone flat in an auto. Just wondering is it possible to do a clutch/hill start in an auto any way? (Yes I'm aware there's no clutch). I know this prob sounds stupid but i need a quick answer asap, and if possible how, he's waiting on my call.

Have seen it done in a 1992 V8 Statesman... nfi how he did it though... he wont give up his trade secret either, just says it can be done if youve got the brains to know how

nope, just drive there and swap batteries for a second... then swap them back

You need to be doing about 40 kph, so it had better be a long/steep hill.

im pretty sure jatcos dont have rear pumps in the autos.

most euro tranniies havbe them. so they can be tow started.

(no oil pressure no clutch/band engagment no spinning converter ...)

done it once in a shit box falcon just to try it out.

Got up to about 90 downhill and jammed it in 1st.

Can be done but yes, 40++ kph required. Would be a scary ride though, brakes with no vacuum assist, no power steering, hahaha.

Try putting turnign off engine on motorway in auto car then turn key back into on position, car will start.
