You will have an easier time putting a VQ30det in an R32 as the VQ is a tiny block. but the same size capacity.

they are also very wel priced and newer :(

clicky clicky here vor vq info

I think you'd get more satisfaction spending your hard earned on a RB30 combination - gtr head, intake manifold and twin turbos - it would be a weapon in a r32.

Having done conversions myself they are probably more hassle than they are worth.

Take a look at under the bonnet of a 300ZX and you will quickly change you mind. Their engine bay is wider than an R32 and all of the stuff still doesn't fit without lots of compromises.

If you are going to stick a V engine in there, then a twin tubo Q45 would be at least worth the effort.

:P cheers :)

so a q45 would fit in better? mmm any other engines you would suggest? and i dont want another rb engine really. wanna try something different, i plan on keeping my gtst for a while so i wanna do something completely insane, but then again i dont wanna spend too much lets say under 8 thousand

lol i could throw in a ca18de bet thats never been done in an r32

any way my 2 friends both have r32's gts's and this is my second one my first one was a 93 model with a factory rb25det

and as for my mates ones...

one has an rb25det with big fmic and a nice looking machine soon to have a powerfc go in and also a gt30/40 afaik

my other mate has a rebuilt 20, with the work's o-ringed, forgies, ecu, over 20thou spent on the engine but he just blew his el cheapo chinese t4e and is gonna be putting in a better turbo.. he already had 250kw at wheels any ways i want something thats more special :D

oh also about the available room in engine bay, i thort the extra room the r32 has at the front would be a bonus with the longer engine bay?

v6 commo motor(buick)

250X-flow from oldschool falcon

turbocharged boxer engine from a beetle or a kombi (maybe nonturbo)

ca16de from an exa

i could keep going...would certainly make you different and stand out!

yeh.

why not go all out and put the engine out of your ride on in there :D you could then drive it to work and mow the lawn as you leave the drive in the morning :P.... But seriously... much easier if you want more power to get a rb25 or 26 and as they have previously said if that is going to bore you go a rb25/rb30 hybrid very good set up if done right and with the cubes of the 3l you can spool a very decent turbo up much quicker making shit loads of power.

    • The Frenchy's kit is the way to go forward. A modern compressor that weighs about 1/2 as much, is at least twice as efficient, and will do a good job on R134a. And of course the kit has everything else you need to connect it up and have it work properly.
    • Hey all , I am in the process of having the AC system in my r32 GTST converted from r12 to r134a and I’m being told my compressor has gone bad and I will need a new one. I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for what is the best route to go aside from dropping $1500 on a new oem one? I did see that Frenchy’s performance garage offers a kit to mount a Toyota compressor, has anybody actually used this kit on their car? Or is there anywhere I could purchase just a clutch? Any help is appreciated.
    • Well, your RB20 ECU loom won't have wires for the boost solenoid, that boost sensor, and possibly one or two other things. There could be differences in seemingly random things like the charcoal canister purge solenoid, because the 25DET has to handle boost in the vacuum system and the 20DE does not. I don't know - I haven't looked. It is very likely that all the most important things are same-same, being the main sensors like AFM, CAS, etc, and the injectors and ignition. Not that you'll need the AFM for the Haltech anyway. I would suggest that you would seriously want to sit down with the pinouts for both ECUs and just go through them and highlight green what is the same, orange what is different/missing, and make a plan from there. It's not going to be difficult. It will either be the same or need to be fixed.
    • yeaaa that's why I haven't done any wiring to the stock ecu harness because I have the haltech, but then that leads me to the other question of "is the pnp harness really plug and play?" or would I have to still switch some pins/wires over because the pnp is for the rb25det neo harness, and not for the rb20de neo harness. was really hoping to find something to spoon feed me since so many people have done rb20neo + t conversions, but man this is rough.
    • Temu raptor, lol. At least the owner isn't your typical ranger danger lot
