Hi all...

Been given my sisters lil N13 Pulsar to drive around atm till the skyline is back on the road.. 1 word NO GUTS!

anywas.. was heading along athlon towards woden alst night, across the drakeford lights, and they turned orange... i put my foot down to make it across realising the car wouldnt go..(difference in power) and by the time i realised i aitn gonna make it in good time.. it was too late to stop as of wet conditions..

As i just crossed the lines coming out of the intersection, the light went red.

Got pulled over all the rest.. slapped with a $230 fine and a loss of 3 demerits..

On the actual infringment notice, its got the car i was driving was white (The car is cream) aslo it says my licence expiry date it 24 Jan 1985. "WHAT THE"

So, do you recon i can get out of this, as the ticket cant be valid as of false information????

Thanx all.

B)

they're actually cracking down on that these days. it used to be that if the ticket had one piece of in-correct info on it, you could get out of it, but it has since changed. i think that if your licence number is correct and the infringement is correct, your stuck with it.........

I'd contest it saying it was an unfamilia car and you didn't know if the car would stop in the distance, so you thought it would be safer to continue through the orange light instead of causing a large accident.

I have written numerious letters attempting to get out of infringments. Ive also spoken to a few people who work at AFP about this. This is from my personal experience, You may write a letter outlining all your cases, then, youll get a letter back in the mail saying, either pay it or goto court, where you can argue your word against the attending police officer / officers (if it was 2, your pretty much guaranteed screwed, as they will corroborate their stories).

They will prob argue, being wet conditions, you should have been being more cautious blah blah blah.

anyways, just my 2 cents,

Good luck with it.

yeah, seems that alot of traffic infringements nowadays are hard to fight against, considering the amount of time, effort and money you put into it. cops know it too, they know peopleprobably cant be f**ked to go to court over it and find it cheaper and easier to just pay the fine.

sorry i cant be of much help as i havent had a traffic infringement (yet), thats one criminal offence i know close to nothing about.

They will just reissue the fine with the correct details, which they have been doing lately.

Write a letter, see how far it gets you... at the very least, an extension to pay the fine, at most it will get you off. Nothing to lose really... (if you have a shitehouse driving record, I wouldnt bother though).

Hey Buddy,

sorry to hear about that. surly there are crimes that need delt with rather than hasseling kids in their cars! neway.

if your over the line and its not red your sweet but there is no proof of that so you can also say that.

the prosecution have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you are at completly in the wrong. If you can prove doubt with the discrepancies in the completion of the ticket you should be able to show that there is doubt in what the officer has charged you with.

you should take it to court. the police will crack the shits and alot of the time they cant even be bothered to have to take half a day off work to go and sit in a courtroom so they just give in and drop the charges. but just sit down and think about but you should be sweet if you go to court.

neway mate all the best with it.

I just went to court to fight 3 speeding offences that got me (in ute) at that horrible fixed camera on lanyon, near jerra. Long story short, the speedo was out so much that at 80km on speedo, actual speed travelled was 92km. Got free legal advice and was advised I had a case. I initially pleaded not guilty, which got the RTA into a spin and adjourned the hearing so they could check the camera. Was unecessary as one year later (and on the 3rd court appearance), I was advised to plead guilty with circumstance. By pleading guilty, it meant that I was disputing the operational capability of the camera, which was not the case. I spoke to the court magistrate (not the judge), and , as I had the mechanical certificate to prove my case, given my good driving record (I must be a boring driver!!!), and that I came prepared, all charges were dismissed. Funny thing, the RTA record had my birthdate as 1 Jan 1900, which had the court in stitches, this had no bearing on the case at all. Sorry for the long post, but just a bit of support for you if you do decide to go to court. It can be done, just do your homework, and dress well at court! Good luck Andrew.

    • Standard GTRs are boring and there plenty of them, do what ever you want to it and just remember nothing about them is cheap anymore and if you’re picky about how you want things done it gets even worse.    if it’s an n1 or something very limited then maybe care more about it’s heritage
    • Alright guys, I've got good odds the motor survives due to a majority of spare parts. Who's taking bets on clutch, who's on transmission, and who's go diff? Happy to also take bets on if it still overheats in traffic or not 😛     Car looks amazing by the way. I've never been a fan of R34 rears, so really, I don't think any body kit etc solves that for myself, but the front end looks amazing!
    • As an ex-skyline owner Going off how these things are now "modern classics", I would keep the twins and just "refresh" bits that are required for reliable power and have a car you can take out for a cruise whenever you get the itch As a idiot who cannot leave things alone Going deep into the "rabbit hole" is a easy thing to do, as previously mentioned, once you start it becomes a slippery slope, wirh lots of supporting mods, and possibly rebuilds, and unless you have a bottomless pit of funds, the car can spend most of its life sitting in the garage,  broken, waiting for parts, or building more funds For a classic like a R32 GTR Basically, a reliable OEM+ refresh, that isn't a broken garage queen, is alot better than a car that you build, then break, then fix, then break again And it isn't just the engine you need to worry about, these beasties are getting on in age, and all parts are getting, and have got, expensive, the days of picking up cheap replacement engines and other driveline parts are well and truly over The funds not spent on going a single with quality parts, and with all the other other bits required to make it happen, could be spent on refreshing alot of other parts A wise man once said "If you cannot afford 2 GTR's, you cannot afford 1", I also believe he said this about 20 years ago when you could pick up a clean R32 GTR up for around $20k My advice for a R32 GTR (the one and only true Godzilla in my mind) is to think holistically about the whole car, the body, the power train, the suspension, the brakes, and the driveline SAU is a wealth of knowledge with decades of Skyline experience,  from stock, to OEM+, to modified to varying degrees, to full on or weekend or dedicated racecars, as well as full on money pits that rarely leave their garage Treat the old girl nice and give her what she deserves, you are a lucky man to own such a classic car
    • For that price you could buy the hypergear turbo (big fan as I run one) and the Haltech ECU..
    • +1 for the Elite 2500. Get some new knock sensors while you are at it (pretty cheap), look up the TAARKS Nissan knock sensor kit. You may also want to get new coils (R35gtr) while your at it (assuming your on stock ones), as they are a liability. Mine started right up and idled fine on the base map. Also go MAP over MAF, as said above, Haltech make this super simple right out the box. Another fanboy of DBW here, Outsider Garage from your neck of the woods make some nice conversion gear for the R33 (that’s where I got some of my gear from).
