Hi All,

Well, i recently blew my turbo on my R32 GTS-t, and saw that as a good opportunity to upgrade to something slightly larger...

So i've lined up an R34 GTT Intercooler and an RB25 Turbo, and they're being fitted this week/early next week...

Everything was going fine until, for some reason this morning, this question popped into my head:

Will the stock management be able to cope with these changes, seeing as they're not OVERLY huge, and they run relatively rich in standard form anyway? or will i have to get a chip burnt or an SAFC etc installed?

I realise each case is different, and it varies from car to car etc, but in general, what do you think?

I intend to put it on the dyno afterwards to make sure the AFR's etc are within acceptable levels and its not going to lunch itself... Just trying to prepare myself so there are no suprises etc...

Thanks

Jason

I had an RB25 turbo and a blitz front mount and I was running 16 psi with a stock ecu. (R32 GTS-T)

As long as your fuel pump is ok and up to flowing the extra fuel needed you should be fine. just be weary about the pump as this is how I lost my 1st motor.

You may find the fuel cut in second / third every so often. Especially if its cold.

With the stock ecu you will probs see afr's round the high 10's to low 11's up in the revs depending on the boost u run.

As for power you will probs see anyhere between 140 to 160 rwkws.

Hope this helps.

Dan.

Yeah the SAFC/remap is not essential you will be able to drive it with no problems.

The intercooler will make no difference to the ECU whatsoever.

The turbo may cause it to hit fuelcut.

If you are going to put it on the dyno, I would suggest getting an SAFC secondhand from the forums. even if its one of the old safc 1s it will still do the job and i have seen them for $100 from time to time.

plus with the safc you will be around the 170~180rwkw and you will be using heaps less fuel and more pawah everywhere
