Sydney Shop To Do R32 Auto>>manual Conversions?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am looking to purchase an r32 gtst. There seems to be several auto's floating around in great condition, and i'm inclined to believe these have been less thrashed than most of the manuals around. So, I am considering the conversion route. I have found a few threads on DIY guides, but time is at a premium these days, and I don't have enough to to the conversion myself.

Has anyone had a sydney/newcastle shop do a drive in/drive out conversion? I.e. - I don't have to fish around wreckers to buy boxes, tailshafts, pedals, master cyl's etc, they do the whole kit. Sure, I know this will cost alot but then the autos are a few grand cheaper to begin with.

I rang Croydon, they weren't prepared to do it, and couldn't/wouldn't recommend who would do it.

So - who's been down this road before?

As long as you can get an an auto for 3G less you will be infront.

A gearbox, pedal box, and slave cylender + labour will cost you $2500.

all you have to do is find a place that will do the conversion for less than a grand.

Also don't forget the cost of a goot clutch and flywheel...

Go to sss down by WISD they will have a gearbox for about 5-600 a flywheel and clutch for about 300 and the pedals and cylinders etc.

all you will need is the brass bush for the crankshaft (which turns out to be a nissan 2.0 pulsar part)and if you cant get a tailshaft there is a place in newcastle ray gibson engineering who will swap the end from the manual box (which you usually get with the box) for the auto one $140.if you have all the bits its a regular job for any garage did mine on the driveway and thats R33 (heavier box)only hard bit was taking out the steering column and drilling the hole for the master cylinder (but thats marked out on the firewall anyway
