hey,

I just wanted to know if anyone else has the same probs as me with their GTR.

1) Oil pressure seems lower than that of my previous R33 GTS-t even though it has the right amount of oil. (sits between a quarter and 4)

2) After cruising at about 100 - 110 on the freeway for about 5 - 10km's the HICAS light comes on and stays on until car is switched off and turned back on.

3) Sometimes the car puts too much power to the front (at low revs) and the car shudders a bit until u take your foot off and re-apply, then it goes back to normal.

I havn't had my GTR for long at all and am not sure where these probs are coming from. Also how the hell do you get rid of that bell sound when you go over 100???

Any help appreciated...

Thanks, ElBoRo.

1) consider the grade of oil and the age of the oil. Or the sender may be slightly faulty.

2) As has been suggested numerous times on these forums:

a) do you have an aftermarket steering wheel?

b) how is the P/S fluid level.

3) May sound stupid, but check the connections onto the TPS. And you (almost) MUST have same tyre sizes front and back (that almost includes even wear). Try swapping tyres F->B, B->F (never L->R, R->L)

yes i do have an aftermarket steering wheel, and the tyres on the front are diff to the back.

I don't know what a TPS is but i will check all the conections i can see uner the car.

Does anyone know how to get rid of that bell sound when you go over 100 or 110 or whatever speed it is.

well the aftermarket wheel and the different size tyres i would say are causing the hicas problem and the attesssa problem.

getting rid of the bell is as simple as finding it, and disabling it. apparently they can be quite hard to find though!

Topaz, oil pressure is measured in bar not degress celsius. that's temp mate.

Woah... a GTR with a working speed alert thing, never seen one of those before...

Its under the dash just under the steering wheel, black box, disconnect it and it should go away.

Mine worked too, drove me mad for a day or two until I removed it....

Yep - mine worked too - but mine was behind the instrument cluster - I had to take the whole cluster out to get to it.(not a big deal – only half a dozen screws)

It was a little sliver box - screwed into the back of the cluster

watch out for the little plastic thingy that connects the speedo cable to the instrument cluster - mine came away with the cluster - fell on the floor and vanished into a parallel universe (gooonnnnne!) - ended up having to buy a new speedo cable :D

hey,

I just wanted to know if anyone else has the same probs as me with their GTR.

1) Oil pressure seems lower than that of my previous R33 GTS-t even though it has the right amount of oil. (sits between a quarter and 4)

mine is higher than this – but I have a new engine with N1 oil pump

2) After cruising at about 100 - 110 on the freeway for about 5 - 10km's the HICAS light comes on and stays on until car is switched off and turned back on.
Yep – mine does this too – and I have the SAME wheels and a HICAS boss kit for my steering wheel. Apparently once you get over 80kmls the HICAS starts to work (or tries to), once you get over 110 – if it is having problems – it gives up and the light comes on. I am yet to track this down – and will probably go for the locking bar option too. Some guys just pull the warning bulb out (you could do that when you are removing the speed warning bell if you like.
3) Sometimes the car puts too much power to the front (at low revs) and the car shudders a bit until u take your foot off and re-apply, then it goes back to normal.

NFI – mine works fine – change fluids if you can

I havn't had my GTR for long at all and am not sure where these probs are coming from. Also how the hell do you get rid of that bell sound when you go over 100???

thanks for your help ppls, i got new tyres yesterday and it runs heaps smoother now.

I think i will go and buy an aftermarket oil gauge today though because yesterday when i was going to bob jane i looked at my stock oil gauge and it was on 0!!! i freaked out. But after i pulled over and turned the car off, checked the oil, and turned it back on it was fine. :) wierd.
