ok guys about four days ago, boost cut out on my skyline, it's mainly driven by my gf these days,

any way on tuesday she was driving and the BOV stop goin off, and the car had no boost..

so i checked for leaks or wat not, couldnt find a thing, took it around the block was only hitting 4psi on low and high setting (turbosmart 2 stage BC)..

so today i bid the bullet and took it to the mechanic Sonny does very good work left it there with him and see if my turbo was playing..

he checked the hoses took my turbo apart my exhaust off and nothing was out of place..

so his gonna get his hands on another AFM and see if thats the case...

or maybe the Power fc is playing up?

any ideas guys?

Mods are

PowerFC

FMIC

Turbo Back

KnN Pod

turbosmart 2 stage Boost controller

hkS SSQV on the intercooler pipe and also the stock BOV on the throttle

Cheerz in advance

If you are still getting 4 PSI then the turb is still working.

Is it a stock turbo and what boost did you use?

Waste gate diaphram stuck open so just about all the exhaust gas goes by the wastegate?

maybe the circlip that holds the actuator arm on the waste gate has come off. When this happened to me, the most boost the car made was 4 psi.

no, the turbo was taking apart twice looked at waste gate and actuator and a different one was fitted as well...

still nothing

goin to put the Factory ECU back on, maybe the POwer Fc is playin up

I also have POwer fc.... My boost wiring was checked... didnt fix problem either (do you have A-lsd on your car). Maybe it is something to do with the A-lsd and PFC. I haver been told by tuner that i have a turbo problem... Dont want to spend all my money on new turbo if it snt broke!.. Anyone got any ideas?

i saw the turbo the exhasut wheel is all chipped, another turbo was hooked up, we set it to around 20psi, and the turbo was demolished, so must have being the turbo..

then engine was compression tested and stuff everything was fine

so a new turbo is on it's way

the powerfc will be hardly to blame but you can certainly try going back to the stock ecu. the powerfc does not have "boost cut" or excess airflow protection like the stock ecu so it wont be that. things i would be looking for:

what comes up on the sensor sw/check page

what noises/things do you see when it gets to 4psi?

what does monitor show for KNOCK, INJDUTY, AIRFLOW, IGNTMNG when you only see 4psi and can't get any more ?

what boost controller?

have you tried bypassing the boost controller?

failing that ask a local forum member to perhaps come n have a quick look, could be something simple and obvious that everyone is missing

    • I’d love to find some where that can recover the dashes to look brand new and original. Mine has a very slight bubble, nothing compared to come I’ve seen though
    • $170K. I asked one of the guys there as a joke if that price was just for the passenger seat as it was where the price sheet was... he tried really hard to crack a smile 😄 He also mentioned that every single part of the car was inspected and either restored or replaced with a new or as new part, or made from scratch. The interior was incredible, every inch like a new car.
    • Time for a modernisation, throw out the AFM, stock O2s, ECU into the e-waste bin. Rip out the cable throttle, IACV, pedal, etc. into the scrap metal bin. DBW, e-throttle, modern ECU, CANbus wideband, and the thing will drive better than when it left the factory.
    • I agree, don't go trusting those trims. As I said, first step is to put the logger away, and do the basics in diagnosis.   I spend plenty of time with data loggers. I also spend plenty of time teaching "technicians" why they need to stop using their data loggers, and learn real diagnostics.   The amount of data logs I play with would probably blow most people away. I don't just use it to diagnose. I log raw CAN data too, as a nice chunk of my job is reverse engineering what automotive manufacturers are doing.
    • I'm aware, but unless you're actually seeing the voltage the ECU is seeing and you're able to verify the sensors are actually working I find it hard to just trust STFT/LTFT. I will say, logging the ECU comes naturally to me because it's one of the lowest effort methods of diagnosis and I do similar things in my day job all the time. Staring at 20+ charts looking for something that isn't quite right isn't for everyone. NDS1 allows you to log almost everything so that's normally what I do and then sort out the data later.
