Hi i have a r32 gtst (1990) i have 18 by 7inch (225all round) wheels on it at the moment and still looks like a 4x4. i want to lower it and got a price for 2ich lowering springs for 220 a set. i need to know who has lowered there car with just springs... people are telling me to get shocks etc because the origional shocks are going to knock... this is true to one point, but has anybody ever had this problem???

and what is the preferred method for lowering keeping in mind its an everday car doesnt do any track work... and money is a bit of an issue...

A couple of things to think about;

When you put lowering springs in a car they have to be a higher spring rate, to abosrb the bumps in the shorter distance. The standard R32GTST shocks don't handle the standard springs very well, even when they are new. So expecting 15 year old standard shocks to handle ~20% higher springs rates is a bit of a stretch.

You have to remove the shocks to change the springs, so if you find that the shocks don't handle the higher spring rates, you will end up paying for labour twice. If you DIY then you will spend twice as long doing it.
