Folks,

Ive just got my GTS back from its first peice of open bonnet surgery this year and its popping out a respectable 334BHP (@ 1.1 bar) at the wheels. So ive changed pretty much all of the bolt on bits and peices so now its down to some of the bigger bits.

There seems to be a much bigger GTS scene out here so I am keen to find out what cams you use / reccomend and pistons / rods? too. basically where do i go from here?

Paul

Hi Paul,

I will be in the same boat too and have asked many questions about this already.

As far as cam choice goes do something like a 256/264 combo or straight 264's, this will give you a heap more power at the same boost. Don't go too big cause the hydraulic lifters don't like it.

Pistons I have chosen Wiesco 8.5:1, this reduces static compression by overboring the block slightly, and they are much cheaper than Japanese pistons.

Rods I would just have linshed, shot-peened and crack tested, they should be strong enough.

In the UK you can always get Cosworth pistons, I've heard they are good.

The Tomei cams are awesome, but you need to decide whether to keep the NVCS(VVT) or not. You can get cams that support it, but none of the adjustable inlet cam gears do. I personally choose to get rid of it, but if you want you can get the Tomei cams and just do the exhaust cam gear.

SHUTO-BOY,

The limit is about 280-290rwhp with stock tubro, if you go for a bigger turbo then some people are getting over 350rwhp with stock internals, but this is not recommended. Spend money on building a strong reliable engine.
