Pre-checks Before Throwing The Cash Over

Hey guys and girls, just wanting to know the feedback you guys have when it comes to buying that first skyline from a private seller or a used car yard dealer. I went out today and looked at some r32 gts-t's and some to me looked quite dodgy, and some good. But what are some things that you have to watch out for before you throiw your money over the counter? also recommendations on where to have a look (i live in qld, brisbane) greatly appreciated..
