hey everyone, just going thru some of the motions of getting my car ready for compliance (15 year rule)

ive removed both door trims from my 1990 R32 Gtst and found what appears to be side intrusion bars installed from factory on the drivers side door?

is this correct? or could they have been put there aftermarket in japan (why??)

and the passanger side doesnt have them..

if this is the case and i am correct does that mean for compliance i will only be needing to get aftermarket ones installed into my passanger door?

if this is the case im cheerin coz thats going to save me a fair bit of money.

even still, check out the pics and let me know your thoughts! thanks peeps

woops.

ok that is a 1992 onward door. it would of been replaced in japan.

i love pulling of the door trims and seing them when im complying 32s

its quite common on 32s as i think you cant buy the non intrusion bar boor from nissan(safty reqirment)

the other side get some 50*20*2.5mm blu tube cut it to 1113mm

get 75*6mm plate. cut one bit to 150mm the other to 100mm

and one piece of plate about 10mm long.

weld the 100mm bit to the bar (longways) leaving about 20mm of the plate overhanging the end of the bar

get the 150mm plate and weld the 10mm one on the end of the plate (making the plate thicker at the end)

at this point you will need to take it to somone who has put them in the dors before because it to dificult to explain on paper :D

yeh, if you have a magic bar on the drivers side, then the car has been smacked into at some point in japan, and they've replaced it with the r32 update door (1991+).

As long as the rest of the car doesn't have signs of dodgy repair, should be ok..

cool.

well i suppose this can be seen as good and bad -

on one hand i dont have to get bars for that door but on the other hand the cars been smaked.

i assume RTA wont have a problem with there being 2 different ones in the doors? ie only having receipt for one side of the car? so long as they are both there right?

ill take the other door off the car and take it to SA chassis over here where ive heard theve got a good reputation for doing this stuff to imports. so thats shaved alot of bucks off my compliancing cost.

thks guys
