Print out the prices from J-Spec and some other importers and take it along top the dealer. Show him that you can easily buy one for $7,000 less than he wants. If he pulls the no warranty on imports crap, tell him you can buy warranty insurance for $600.

I am sure he will pull out the "with an import you don't know what you are getting" + "this one you can see and drive before you buy" rubbish. In which case you tell him the cars are inspected before they leave and you get a full report for $200. Throw him the "at least I know that it hasn't been tarted up to look good and cover up any problems".

Throw the "100K service costs a bomb" line at him, and demand that the service be done for free before you will discuss anything further. Get it out of the way quick, agreed and move on. Otherwise he will use it later as a deal sealer.

Close with "I am willing to pay a BIT more because I can have the car now, but $7,000 is rediculous". Then let him sharpen his pencil, I reckon around $21K is an OK price.

Hope that was of some help

:P cheers :O

Thanks all for your advice...it was very helpful..especially being a lady not everyone always takes you seriously....i will be going to have a talk on Tuesday with them and find out the best deal...had a look today on J-Spec they have a 99, 76000kms, manual in yellow with scratch on front and back bumper and only 22k landed and complied, it has a tow bar and just wondering if this is why nobody has been interested in it! (I have seen this one advertised since mid Sept) Any ideas??? ^_^

Any way all Happy New Year :P

Nah, most people would see the tow bar as a positive! Towing just about anything isn't going to put a strain on a stagea, and they often just get used for push bikes, so there really isn't a downside in having one.

But price seems a little low for those km's in a manual, so be carefull and really check it out!

Ian

Any ideas how to get any more info out of them...looked on website and have emails back and forth...but from what i can see apart from the scratches on the bumpers i can find much more wrong with it!!! I figure for this price if there is much wrong with it the money saved could fix it up if anything was wrong....

Thankx for all your advice ;)

I still think if 21K is too much for the white one then 24 is too much for the black....?

Yes I work out of their now as a few people already know, it isnt a secret, also I want to clarify that the white Series 2 Stagea in stock is $19,990 and a Series 1 can be bought from $14,990 which is a fair price for retail.

With out sounding like I am looking for a free plug or going on (Leeza and Dan) these vehicles all include a 3 year unlimited klm warranty and 6 months rego.

Everything in life including all the our cars are negotiable.

If you think you can land on the road a Black Series 2 Stagea with Factory Recaros, under 100,000 klm's, RSR Exhaust, Work wheels, Coilovers and a few other mods for $7,000 less then by all means go ahead.

100,000 klm service dosent cost a bomb from a good workshop, if you want something no harm in asking.

OK dont be scared fellas about the prices - they are temporarily artificial due to the Perth "no market" for Stageas ... and talking it over down there at the yard Id imagine once Albert at Autowholesale offloads this shipment of Series 2's I think prices will go back to normal. These are going cheap because there is just hardly ANY market for Stageas over here (as I am finding)... you wont find Qld or other states dropping their prices to match as Id say Albert has just cut the bottom out to offload them - like he had to with the 260RS for only $39,900 remember - that sat in the yard for like over a year or something.

Just coz hes got a white Series 2 for $19,990 doesnt mean the alarms will sound Australia wide... a good score for whoever nabs it no doubt - and the black one as well if that what you want (higher kms and overseas older engine mods)... but then it'll be back to normal - I wont be dropping my 63,000km that low in case thats what anyone is thinking lol - close to it - but not that low! I'll just 'ride out the competition' lol and find a buyer who wants a lower km mint condition example with alarm and rims etc etc etc for low 20s.

These prices are normal and will stay this way, we price the cars according to a lot of things including what the are worth, their were two Series 2's at $20,0000 you need to cover a large price range of $15,000 to $20,000 for Series 1's and $20,000 to $30,000 for a Series 2.

Different dealers work on different margins.......we are not greedy!!

Nigel and Anthony.

Autowholesale Causeway

I have dealt with the guys at Autowholesale on a couple of occasions. Both vehicles are great and they are a professional organisation to trade with.

Two thumbs up.

i second that comment, i got my stagea back in november 2004 from Albert at the cannington autowholesale yard and he was very very helpful and was flexible on prices which is not normal for caryards, and i scored a bargain

recently went upto the autowholesale yard and had a long and healthy discussion with DRIFTT (Nigel) about the latest stageas and they are the most reasonably priced caryard in perth for sure, and they have some absolute beasts in there as well, if only i was rich :)

cheers and good luck to the autowholesale bunch, u have been a great help and i'll be shopping there in the future if i plan on changing cars :)

wouldnt mind one of those late model rx7s damn they are hot :)

Brad (stagezilla)

p.s. when can u get me some stagea parts guys, i want a cargo area cover at some stage and a few other little bits and pieces ? :P

    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
    • Do you have an IAT sensor? It's worth checking it to see. You may be suprised how little gap you actually need to flood your engine with hot air. (I tape up my airbox for a reason) :p
    • @KinkstaahKrinkle paint the "silver" alloy, not the red filter frame Engine bay heat won't be a issue worth worrying about as the silver alloy blocks it off on 3 sides, as for the top, the bonnet seals most of it and the big OEM CAI intake snorkel is still fitted in its original position  I will head into Clark's Rubber when I have some time to grab some pinch weld to tidy up the alloy after I paint it As for performance, I honestly wasn't expecting any, the only reason I got it is because the intake noise sounds cool to my old ears when I'm feeding it the beans Sometimes it's the silly things you do in in life that gives the most fun, and I do love anything that makes cool car noises In other news: I survived 4 nights at sea with Jackie not throwing me over board, holidays are continuing now as we are currently chilling at the Beachcomber in Toukley, after taking the coast roads from Sydney in the MX5, top down all the way, Toukley is where I spent a good deal of my youth holidaying during the summer months, there's lots of reminiscing going on,  and lots of beaches and old houses to visit Next on the list is to head to Batemans Bay for a few days, but we will take the Commodore out to stretch its legs, then Commodore hasn't really moved for months
    • There’s probably people who’d like to do it and then when it comes to putting their hands in their pockets they’ll all disappear into the shadows
