It's impossible to tell without either a dyno or street tune. Usuaully 15 degree's advance is a good base timing, but depending on mods then this can be advanced for more power. Too much advance and you'll get detonation, so I'd suggest a proper dyno tune.

tune on the road.

You can hear pinging, back it off.

After setting a decent amount of timing, monitor the plugs for overheating. (blistering) over the next few days/week. If it is present drop to a colder range and start with an increased gap of say 1.1mm and lower the gap if needed.

I run a 0.75mm gap on ngk copper 6's, soon to change back over to my Autolite racing plugs, 7 range, with larger gap. But I have a S-afc.

not really. depends on how heavy the pinging is. if it is only a light ping, a squirt around the block shouldnt hurt it. obviously if you hear it ping all you gotta do is back off and cruise home. i run 15 degrees in my R32, hasnt pinged once, not even on a 40 degree day! mind you, im still running standard boost and a decent size hybrid cooler and motorsport pump.
