Parking Ticket While Broken Down

That's right, I got a parking ticket for pulling over into an "authorised vehichles" area instead of blocking the princes highway in peak traffic when I broke down.

To give you guys some background, a couple of days after I checked over my car, I gave it some boost (first time since I bolted the car back together) and managed to blow one of the induction pipes off - the one that goes to the steel L pipe that the BOV bolts on. Anyway, I decide to pull over into a quiet section on one of the driveways for Rockdale Plaza at the first available place I thought safe. I popped the hood and confirmed my suspicions and came to the conclusion that I needed to tighten up the hose clamps.

Now I live just around the corner and up the road a bit, but the catch is it's 4:30pm on a weekday and the Princes Highway (which I'd have to drive on) has heavy traffic - as per normal. So I send the missus around for my tools (lol) and while I'm waiting for her to come back, I get snapped by a driveby inspector. And the fine and happy-snap show up 2 days later.

Now I think I have a reasonable excuse for "standing" my car there. So who here has been in a similar situation, and what did you do?

sort of similar.... the towtruck could only leave my car in a no standing zone outside the mechanics at night, as it was closed. went down the next day and left the keys with them but the lazy pricks didnt move the car for 2 days.

Anyway I coped a fine, and I didn't even have the keys to the car. I've sent a letter enclosing the copy of the towtruck receipt and the invoice for the repair to the infringement bureau, but apparently this isn't sufficent evidence (what the f**k is, I ask....) anyway I'm calling them in tomorrow to find out what other possible evidence they need that A. the car could not be moved and B. I didn't have the bloody keys....

write a letter and enclose as much evidence as you can... you might just get off...

something like that happened to me.. except i parked in a no standing zone on purpose for a job interview (was running late).. i came back to see a parking ticket on my windshield.

i disconnected my battery, called the nrma to "fix" it, got them to print out a statement for me and sent it off with a letter of appeal.

fine was taken off my record.

So i guess this is why I've had to wait over an hour for NRMA before...... It was your own fault that you parked there... slightly different to the above to examples... Although it is a miss use of resources, I got to admit its very clever...

I got a parking fine in front of my house. $125. Something about parking opposite of direction of trafic. It's a very quiet street and I've been parking like that for 4 years and this was the first time. Not happy.

I got the EXAct SAME FINE! I was parked in a quite back street in Zetland facing the wrong way. The street was only wide enough to park on one side but it was 2 ways. I was away from the car for 10mins at 11pm and there it was waiting for me. Some council ranger must have had very little to do at 11pm at night.

I was fined for overstaying my welcome in a 2h spot outside the public hospital - whilst I was inside helping deliver my second little girl!

Appealed.

Denied.

Wankers.

And Airzone, that sucks when you have no option but to pull over. Here's hoping you are excused but without any evidence being available you'd be doing well to pull it off.
