im a bit curious to exactly how these laws work.

i hear if u get ur Ps in QLD or SA there are no car restrictions.

does this only apply if u live there or only if u get ur licience there.

and can u upgrade from a VIC L to a QLD or SA P?

thanks guys

aint da same down here in VIC.

theres alot of restrictions on wat u can drive and stuff, real crap.

wat do u mean i have to ring QLD transport?

i herd i can pretend to live in QLD or SA by putting a relitives postcode as a reference or something.

is dat possible?

Well just off the top of my head I can think of a few problems:

You would have to do your test in Queensland. If you did it in Victoria, then to apply for a qld licence, you would have to go into a qld transport office to fill in the appropriate paper work.

You would have to convince them you are a Queenslander, with evidence of where you live. you can't just put down a postcode, you need a full address.

Your Drivers Licence is your main form of ID. You need to show it when you do anything important with anybody (Gov. agency, bank, etc.). Which would mean you are a Queenslander to them.

I'm not sure how you would get registration for a car in Victoria when you have a Queensland licence. Or insurance for that matter, considering your licence says you live somewhere other than where the car is kept. Could cause problems.

These are just things off the top of my head. In short it is near impossible. Don't bother even thinking about it.

i think QLD transport is thinking of doing the same thing pretty soon. for those who have got their Ps, its not gonna be a problem. BUT if u get it after they bring in the restriction, it would be pretty tough.

So i would say give QLD transport a call and find out what u need to obtain a QLD drivers license. Im pretty sure u do need a residential address as u have to prove u live here.
