I rang up Crossover Car Conversions, they wanted 3500 for compliance of a Soarer and wouldnt look at the car if the compliance wasnt done by them.

I also rang up Motor Cars Internations (found through the search engine on Dotars) and they said they dont do compliance even though I found them through Dotars website? weird.

Also japcar doesnt do soarers but for others it was still 3500 and only they could do it.

My question is, Does anyone know of a workshop that lets you do compliance yourself? Most of the stuff is easy enough to do, maybe minus the side intrustion bars.

Can't say I've ever heard of a shop letting people go DIY compliance for a SEVS car, as it must be done by an accredited party (ie the RAWS). It's legislated as far as I know, and not possible to get around.

Of course you could always do 15 year compliance yourself, all that's required in that case is an engineering signatory who will sign off on your work.

There is a lot of paperwork for them to go through, and lots of accredication that costs them tens of thousands per vehicle. So this is why compliance costs a bit. And also the moves were to stop exactly that, joe cobbly doing compliance, and possibly doing a cheap job and possibly unsafe practices (not to say you would be)

It's all a move by the government to have ultimate control over the supply or lack of imports by dictating the supply chain. Seems to work pretty well.

Agreed. We have to consider the fact that RAWS workshop spend a lot on their evidence package, hence, they will need to get their money back.

My workshop (Perth) is in the process of doing the RAWS for S13 (coz its the easiest base car to do first). My SUTI car (base car) has to check by an Engineer in which i have to pay for his flight, accomodation...etc (not just 1 time though) + ISO 9002 standard cert + S13 evidence package, the list goes on.

What i know (as a former old SEVS compliance plate holder) is that once these plates starts getting around, it will definitely be cheaper then. In the meantime, theres nothing you or i can do.

And, just for the record, no RAWS shop will ever let you comply the cars yourself...period.

Cheers

I think 3500 its a good price.

But is a option do not pay for complience.Buy car already registered.

Do not import before You get aprooval for it and You have to contact compl..workshop anyway.

So its not a way go witout them unless You do personal import.
