Have you ever considered adding the "Try using the search button" to your signature, it seemes every second post of yours uses it? :D

hi all, i'm in the market for an r33, i was just wondering if i can ask some dumb questions like whats a stock gts-t run down the 1/4? how long does a stock turbo usually last? and if there is any common problems with em? if anyone can help it would be great thanks

Hi - welcome to the forums.

Stock 33s - depending upon the driver, track, condition of the car etc should be good for a 13-14 second 1/4 mile

Stock turbos are quite good, and will last a long time. The usual problem is that we all want more power, so as we increase the boost we risk damaging the turbo. Most people feel increasing the boost up to around 12psi (from a factory set 7psi) should be OK, but after that you reduce the life of the turbo.

As for common problems, there arn't really that many. Only ones I can think off are that the "Radius Rod Bushes"?? are often a little worn out when they arrive from Japan and need to be changed (not expensive) and that at 100,000km you need to change the timing belt (and its a good idea to do the water pump aswell) which isny the cheapest service (but not bad compared to other cars).

Common modifications usually include :

better exhaust (3 inch) from the turbo back

Front mount intercooler to replace the small factory one

Increase the boost - Bleed valves are cheap, but Electronic boost controllers do a better job.

After that you would consider aftermarket engine management such as a Power FC or other.

Now the power bug has bit hard, so you want to get a biger turbo, improve the fuel system (new pump and injectors) etc etc

The suspension and handeling of the 33's is quite good, so you dont need to modify it as soon as many other cars, but its worth considering a good set of tyres so you can use the power. Other mods often include a Hicas lock kit, Pineapples (to adjust the rear end geometry) and better quality brake pads to help you stop quicker (no real need to change the rotors unless you go for huge power)

Hope that is of some help.

Nah not really. I prefer to say it.

Sometimes if im bored ill go an use it myself and post the results.

But most things you'll find, especuilly boost level for a stock turbo, you cant say thats probably not in the top 10 topics

13s in a stock 33? maybe a GTR! But for a GTST in perfect working order stock at best you would get a 14.5, which for a car 10 years plus is really good, for example the new xr6t typhoons in motor magazine got a time of low 14s, so they are really good cars!

    • Plan on the day will be to park trackside. Depending on space availability we will try put a small shade tent and a few of the cars on top of the hill inside turn 3, this is an easy to get to parking area with views of Turn 2, Turn 3, Turn 4 and Turn 5 and limited other pieces of the view around the track. IMPORTANT NOTE! One consideration from previous years is from memory the trackside parking sells out before the admission tickets, for that reason I encourage anyone planning on coming to buy tickets for parking now via the official website; https://www.worldtimeattack.com/ The type of parking you are looking for is 2 Day Park & View (Access Around Venue) Vehicle Pass Only Please note this does not include admission to the event itself, remember to grab that also, and kids under 12 get in for free!
