Hey people

i just got defected for having not enough tred on the fronts... but the rears will need replacing soon enough.

i have 19" (245/35) wheels all round, got them when i baught the car, and can't afford to replace these tyres.

i currently have no job, so i need tempory wheels to boot around in till i get some money, i have a mate thats gonna lend me his wheels to clear the defect.

my question is, what are some good 'cheap' wheels i could use in the meantime?

Your cheapest option would be to buy some stock R32/R33/R34/S14/S15 wheels from a seller here in SAU or nissansilvia.com.

Otherwise just buy some second hand aftermarket wheels/tyres.

hey nemz.

i got defected for the front right....

only because my front left was a 2nd hand tyre... it costed me $90 only because the guy only had one tyre at the shop.

the 19's are too big for my liking.. i cant turn right fast, coz the guard eats away the tyre.

I have a set of R33 stockies with Michelins with good tread on them you can have for $80...

or

set of R34 stockies with crappy tread Michelins and gutter rash and only 2 centre caps you can have for $150...

pm me if your interested... cheers

yea wel...

the guy(s) that defected me didnt know it was a nissan... im from the sticks.

just a question... if i put the 16's on my car.... how much will it lower the front... i have stock suspension on the back and king springs with aftermarket shocks on the front... the front bar sits 13 cm form the ground

GTR or s15 rims will set you back nearly $1000..

People still pay $1000 for S15 rims?!?!?

I suppose if it had near-new rubber on a set of immaculate rims you might get that price, but otherwise people are letting theirs go with used tyres for $300 to [url-http://www.silviansw.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19772]$400[/url].

Theoretically it should lower it by 38mm

Theoretically, a change in the diameter of your rims does not directly affect your ride height.

What will affect your ride height is the diameter of your tyres, which is only partially dependent on rim size (obviously the tyre diameter can't be smaller than or equal to the rim diameter).

And if your ride height changes after a rim / tyre swap, it means your speedo is going to be way off.

scathing... yea thats what i thought...

16's with some ugly big walled tyres is what ill have to do... to keep the car up

all i need now are some wheels/tyres.... so anybody wanna sell some wheels???

People seem to be voting for the S15 rims. Don't know how it'd look, but it would be quite ironic given the amount of S15s getting around with R34 GTT wheels.

You could probably find a set of 200SX / R33 / Maxima rims for not much, as well.

    • Thanks for your insight, it being basically useless will impact my decision for sure. I thought it may help the engine breath better I guess. But then again, I have also been told that tuning an RB20DE is also not worth it. Exactly, we follow EU Regulations. There is a bit more leeway on older vehicles. My Porsche 924 came without a cat from factory and managed to pass, they still mentioned that I have quite high emissions on it though.
    • My apologies, I stand corrected. Thanks for registering to mention this! And thank you for actually reaching out to the council to clarify. This is the sensible thing to do and the opposite of what I was alluding you were doing. I may have seen too much outrage and hate being fueled on the internet and it has made me a somewhat cynical old man. Sometimes it is easy to forget that there are real people behind websites and accounts. In my defence, CarExpert and CarExplore do read quite similarly at a glance. I shall try and do better in the future. (Please stick around to get the latest scoops on dealing with old Nissan shitboxes )
    • Don't bother. The poor little RB20 doesn't make enough gas flow to challenge the flow capabilities of even the littlest cat, and you won't make any extra power, and all you'll do it soot up your rear bumper. Plus....is Malta not runing under Euro regs?
    • Hey Daniel, sorry to hear that and thanks for posting up for us at a really hard time I only knew SmoothLine through the forums, we never met as we are based in different states, but when he was most active on here he was quite a while back so not many of the current crowd might remember him. I am pretty sure he was active in the Queensland SQU club but that is defunct now too (times are changing and we are all getting older). Farewell SmoothLine!
    • Turns out depending on whether the car was equipped with TCS or not there are different signals coming to the dash, meaning there are different speedo clusters.  Wired in a speedo calibrator box from aliexpress and now works fine.
