Hey guys. I need a new battery for my R30. My old one is losing starting capacity and half the cells are stuffed.

A auto electrician suggested i set my system up using 2 batteries, a deep cycle battery for the audio gear and my gauges, and a normal starting battery for starting the motor. Then a guy at a battery shop was recommending that i get hardcore optima battery (http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/) its deep cycle and a starting battery in one. Its $272 incl GST which seems to be alot of money, but also worth it in a way.

But then couldnt i just get a normal battery for around $100? I dont even use my audio gear for that long when the car is off. Which for some reason the guys in the shops thought i did. What does everyone reckon?

Regards,

George

I'm doing fine with a $90 Heavy Duty Century Battery in my R32. Comes with a 2 year guarantee, which is a bit of piece of mind.

Even then you should be fine for 30 minutes of moderate music use with the motor off, unless you have a lot of heavy equipment.

I think they're just trying to sell you expensive things.
