Restless 33
as the topic says my headlights keep blowing. i make sure not to touch any part of the globe when putting them in and the last a few months then blow first the drivers side then the other side a few days later. has anyone had this problem or have any ideas on how to fix it thanks, Mark Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/99048-blown-headlights/ Share on other sites
MANWHOR3
what globes are you using? are they those so called 'white globes'? I used to run the ricer globes, and they blew about once a month. buy a good set of hella/osram globes (not the rice blue/white ones) and they'll last. SECURITY
what about your headlight fuses? are they the right amperage? check if they're the right ones too. n15m0
"Is your car lowered or using coilovers???" This was the first question a guy at autobarn asked me when i had this problem in my silvia. I was blowing globes on a regular basis too and had stiff coilovers. Apparently they shatter the filaments very easily when ur car is lowered or has hard suspension. Replaced the coilovers with normal sports suspension and problem has disappeared! MANWHORE
arctic blue is the problem. those are rice globes. have you noticed that the non white phillips globes are road legal. but the guy where you bought it from shoulda told you that they're not road legal, coz of the short lifespan. it's pretty obvious you won't be defected for it, as a cop won't know shit. but the down side is they don't last long. Mine used to blow abobut once a month. the reason is, the blue coating makes the light bluer, but therefore, not as bright. to make up for it, they overpower the filament. which shortens it's life Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/99048-blown-headlights/#findComment-1807626 Share on other sites
Beeble
I got all rice once upon a time and replaced my low beams with arctic blues. The first one lasted about 2 months, the other maybe 6. Bought another set, same story. Bought pure white globes, never looked back.
