Hi guys, my r32 gtr is 10mm lower on the front right side compared to the left. I thought the spring had simply sagged over time. I've recently replaced all my springs and shocks as part of the whiteline group buy, but no change.

Now I'm thinking maybe a suspension component could be bent? Can anyone suggest what could be the likely cause?

I know I can mess around with different spring heights or spacers, to fix it but I would much rather find the cause of the problem rather than a work around.

There's no accident damage to the suspension towers or anything obvious. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have seen this in lots of cars, sometimes there is a bent component, sometimes not. A proper 4 wheel wheel alignment usually shows this up. The general consensus in the suspension industry is, over time and many k's, with just the driver in the car, the chassis develops a twist (a set). This means it is lower on the side that has someone in it all the time when it is moving, ie; the RHS.

This is exacerbated on GTR's because of the transfer case, front drive shaft and diff also being on the RHS.

If you have had the wheel and chassis alignment checked, then personally I would put it down to chassis set, lift it 8 mm on the RHS (up one circlip groove, front and rear) and move on.

:) cheers :spank:

Thanks for your help advise SK.

I was told by Centreline if I move the circlip to the next grove (8mm heigher) this will actually increase the vehicle height by 16mm? Aparently it's a 1:2 ratio. So may need to machine a groove 4mm above existing one. <_<

Nope the movement ratio is pretty much 1 to 1, ie 8mm higher circlip = 8mm higher height.

:starwars: cheers :)

does anyone have a picture of this. just would be interesting to know cos i have and still got a problem with the front left side of the car. still haven't got around to get the chassis checked ( does anyone know the cost of it?)

A picture of what?

A lot of cars come out of the factory with the left lower to compensate for the camber in the road, dunno re: skylines..I'll go measure mine now...Found this out myself after doing my 62 ford the other week, i ended up getting some springs custom made the same height because every off the shelf set was the same also checked the 4 set of old springs I have, same story and they wouldn't sell me 2 rights or 2 lefts....bastards!!
