Carbon On The Back Of My Car

g'day all,

just having a look over my 'line this arvo and found a thin film of black dust all over the back of the car. looks like carbon or something. Theres no smoke coming out of the back of the car so its not like burnt oil or nothing. I'm thinking it might be brake dust, but i'm interested to see if anyone else has had anything like it on theirs.

might just be be road grime too but i figured it wouldn't hurt to ask..

Skylines generally run rich, particularly under boost. So it's quite likely it's carbon from a rich mixture. It's quite possible to put out a cloud of black that you can't see from the driver's seat.

The other possibility is that Optimax has been known to put out some goop in the exhaust that will coat the arse-end of the car - the coating tends to disappear as soon as you stop using Optimax.

It's carbon from the fuel.. especially if you were running shell ultimate, even optimax does it..

if your cars stock, not a huge issue..

The cars bog stock and i've been using BP Ultimate, its the only 98RON fuel you can get in cairns. sounds like nothing to worry about too much.

hmm odd .. my car is relatively stock but i don't get the black coat.

generally when you start raising boost and stuff you'll get it as the ECU over compensates
