Your car sounds nice mate, and the whole off boost thing... I see it as a positive, as I was able to keep up :P

hahahah fair call ..

toped out at 5.5 psi on the way down , and 1 psi on the way home ... always soo tempting but if that hose busted i would have been walking home ... thats a long way lol

Guys

It was a good day, and to those who piked and DIDNT let me know. My wallet has some words for you.

I will total up how much the day cost me and get it sorted out, the amount of food we threw out after everybody left was really dissapointing

Other than that the day went well - next time we will make the day a full day and hire that parking spot (the grassy semi circle) and then make it a beach/bbq/cruise all in one

Glad people had a good time

-Steve

yay! home! bed!

fun fun fun day!! Thanks Steve and other organisers for the day!! Top effort!

Steve... i owe you 5 bucks.. my passenger ended up not eating and therefore not paying, so i owe you her share!!

Yeah, so wasn't in the mood to be doing any photography etc hey.... was already really tired from having no sleep, car problems just made it worse.

But it's all good now :P And for all those who were disappointed that the new hair dryer isn't in, just got some good news ;)

gotta love that 350gt!...love with the wheels!!!!

Was he just a bystander who happen to see a SAU cruise?...Cos if it was then its the ShNizZzLE!

ya he was driving down further to some pub or something...

man imagine rocking up to a pub in that.. dang...

where are ur photos!

me too!!!

Was a top day, I'll keep my schumacher (sp?) antics to myself next time ay scotty!?

And Links... where the hell did you go to on the way home? towards maroubra? I thought hell, I'm not getting lost again, then took off towards the ED and went through the cross.. ran into the WA boy on the way home (but no wave! grrr!)

Hi Liz,

Sorry no wave... Was that you behind me on Flinders St? Was waiting for you to pull up next to me... :P

I was rushing to meet up with a mate who just got off a plane from Perth.

This waving thing always gets me in trouble... If I wave at a fellow Skyliner, I always get death stares... If I don't wave, I get told on the forum... ;)

Next time I'll just wave at all Skylines I see... Hahhaaa!

BTW, great day and thanks to the organisers... Top job! Look forward to the next one...

Great cruise guys and well done Steve!  As with all other SAU cruises its pretty normal to get massive sun burn :P. In the morning where everyone gathered at P6 that was an awesome sight. Looking forward to the next one!!

Think that was actually P6c.... Smaller carpark than the other one.

Oh that ranger who came in the morning was a dickhead... Lucky he didnt come back and book us all... ~60cars x ~75$ fine = $$$

Radiator = stuffed.

Glad to see everyone had a good time. Well done Steve for organising such a great event.

Those of you who didn't turn up - make sure you pm N1GTR and get $5 to him. It's not fair that he should do all the organising and have to pay for the priviledge. $5 is nothing to you but 20x$5 or whatever it is is something to him when he has a broken GTR to fix.

I'll be at the next one for sure. Might even be able to bring my car!!!

    • Very decent bit of kit. Definitely black it out I reckon.
    • Because people who want that are buying euros. The people with the money to buy the aftermarket heads and blocks aren’t interested in efficiency or making -7 power, they’re making well over 1,000hp and pretty much only drive them at full throttle  best way to way make money is know your customer base and what they want and don’t spend money making things they don’t want.
    • It's not, but it does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity regardless. For example, what if the cylinder head was redesigned to fit a GDI fuel system? It's worth like two full points of compression ratio when looking at modern GDI turbo vs PFI turbo. I'm pretty reliably surprised at how much less turbo it takes to make similar power out of a modern engine vs something like an RB26. Something with roughly the same dimensions as a -7 on an S55 is making absolutely silly power numbers compared to an RB26. I know there's a ton of power loss from things like high tension rings, high viscosity oil, clutch fan, AWD standby loss, etc but it's something like 700 whp in an F80 M3 vs 400 whp in an R33 GTR. The stock TF035HL4W turbos in an F80 M3 are really rather dinky little things and that's enough to get 400 whp at 18 psi. This just seems unwise no? I thought the general approach is if you aren't knock limited the MFB50 should be held constant through the RPM range. So more timing with RPM, but less timing with more cylinder filling. A VE-based table should accordingly inverse the VE curve of the engine.
    • I've seen tunes from big name workshops with cars making in excess of 700kW and one thing that stood out to me, is that noone is bothering with torque management. Everyone is throwing in as much timing as the motor can take for a pull. Sure that yields pretty numbers on a dyno, but it's not keeping these motors together for more than a few squirts down the straight without blowing coolant or head gaskets. If tuners, paid a bit more attention and took timing out in the mid range, managed boost a bit better, you'll probably see less motors grenading. Not to name names, or anything like that, but I've seen a tune, from a pretty wild GT-R from a big name tuner and I was but perplexed on the amount of timing jammed into it. You would have expected a quite a bit less timing at peak torque versus near the limiter, but there was literally 3 degrees of difference. Sure you want to make as much as possible throughout the RPM range, but why? At the expense of blowing motors? Anyhow I think we've gone off topic enough once again lol.
    • Because that’s not what any of them are building these heads or blocks for. It’s to hold over over 1000hp at the wheels without breaking and none of that stuff is required to make power
