Sorry if this has been posted before but I tried searching for an hour to find the following and I didnt have any luck.

I bought R34 GTR turbos for my RB30DET VL. I was told they were steel wheel but then a few people that wouldnt really know have told me theyre not steel wheel.

Are R34 GTR turbos steel wheel?

What sort of boost and power could I make with them?

How can you tell the difference between steel and ceramic turbos?

Cheers Edward

Sorry mate, they are not steel wheels but ceramic. The N1's are inconel which is about the best stuff to have but the poor old 34 stockers will still fly apart without reason. I put a set into my R33 GTS25t and the front one let go at 5 psi causing loss of compression in 1,2,3. They had previously been running fine in a mates car so no particular reason for the failure.

14psi limit but no guarantee on longevity so whatever that will do for you.

Steel often have a small lip at the trailing edge of the turbine. Ceramic looks like it's bead blasted and smooth edges.
