yo guys

just a quick question

some of the intersections have Redlight and Speed cameras

so if u run a red light & speeding...u get pinged for the red light PLUS coping the speeding fine

but what if you just speed through a greenlight?

will you get pinged for speeding? or will it only ping you if u run the red light and speeding at the same time

coz i got flashed (at night) speeding through a greenlight...

I wasn't aware that red light camera's could book you for speed. My understanding was that they are specifically calibrated for detecting red light runners, and speed camera's specifically for speed. With all the legalities and controversy over camera's not being correctly set up or working properly etc. I don't know if they would risk getting one camera to do both. It may also be different from state to state.

I believe that yes they do get both speed and red light, if you go through speeding on a green light, I would say it would book you for speeding. Atleast, that's how I approach all red light cameras, not worth taking the chance to test out the theory :glare:

My first & only speeding fine was from one of these red light+ speed cameras :glare: & yes it was through a green light. So prob expect one in the mail in the coming weeks andz69

FYI: Fixed speed cameras are usually set at 11-12kms p/h above the speed limit ;)

i got flashed when i first bought the car...last Xmas...has been 3 months...

so i guess it doesnt register if its green?

yeh, they do ping ya for speeding

and it takes its time..................its only the ones that say they're red light and speed camera intersections that will do it (which is pretty much all of em now)

Yeah I've always got the impression that they can do ya for Red Light and Speeding (Speeding no matter what colour the light is at the time).

Tis why I always keep the speed down through those intersections.

Good luck mate!

yah so do i..always slow down when going thru the lights

but this particular one was hidden amongst the tree branches, and it was at night...on West Tce, opposite Heaven/Hindley St

look out for it..see if you could spot it next time u drive pass

u serious? do u drive blind? on all red light camera's it says 'red light and speed camera' on a big sign!!!???!!!

by law they have to tell you what they are, so if the big white sign with blue writing says: "Red Light Camera" it's only a red light camera; if it says "Red Light & Speed Camera" then its a speed camera 24/7, and a red light camera when appropriate. If you go back past the intersection and see what it says, then your going to know what you can get busted for. =)

safe travels =P

been, there done that........and get ready for the fine.... the trafic light camera ones always come LATE!

agreed!

i have a good mate who works in the force, he tells me that the traffic light camera fines/offences are unfortunately always taking their sweet time....before they arrive in the mail box

another interesting point to mention is that the same mate reckons that these red light & speeding cameras have a tendancy to malfunction if they experience excessive heat. i think he mentioned they tend to fail after 38 degree or higher temps!.... anyone else heard this?

its just interesting to ponder the fact that each of these red light cameras cost alot of money.... (upto $250,000 each i think it is?) and to think...with all that money going into them...you would expect them to be weatherproof.

just my two cents!

in saying this though, i still hope you dont get fined there andz69...goodluck mate!

yeah but due to vandals they stick them in a big pressure cooking hotbox ... not trying to justify just find reason

imo best to just slow down through all intersections thats where crazy ppls try and make up time

cheers Steve, :)

you bring up some good points...though i believe its best just to stick to the speed limit at all times (i know its tempting..especially in performance cars). correct me if i am wrong, but ive heard that there is a 10% speed limit "cushion" before you get fined??, but how do we know that our spedos are actually calibrated 100% precisely..best just to stick the limit for peace of mind...and no hassles.

cheers,

You need to be able to break the constant feed from the headlight to the orange corner globe when the indicator is flashing. Not knowing which Skyline we're talking about specifically here too (And it may not matter, but I don't know the R34 column switches) you'd likely need to rewire the stalk, so that the indicator power itself no longer runs through the stalk too, as now you need it able to trigger a relay that will break the constant supply from the headlights to the indicator, then you'll need a separate relay to trigger the indicators to come on (Replacing the internal action of the indicator stalk).
    • Weird story from me My Toyota 86 was with Commbank comprehensive but for market value (who they use to underwrite is unknown) When I munted it beyond financially viable repair in 2020, rear end smashed in to the point it bent the rear quarter and roof, they knew I paid $31k cash for it because I told them, they still paid me out $38k, as all the 2017 limited edition variants with typical Km and condition were going for between $36-41k, so they did weird math and came up with $38k I never officially mentioned any of the mods that I had done, but as they were not the cause of the crash they were not fussed at all, the insurance inspector actually asked if I wanted to replace all the mods with the OEM stuff if I still had it laying around before they took the car I still came out of it behind though, because I had probably dropped $20k in it with the suspension (bent after the prang), wheels (bent as well) and "other" mods, that the inspector asked about But still, as the market value was higher than what I initially paid, and they paid out market value To say I was surprised with the outcome would be an understatement  Weird, but true, but probably just lucky with the inspector on the day I guess  Sadly, I don't think if I munted the old NC1 MX5 I would get the same result Meh, pay to play
    • Well, the car is back, all straight and shiny, for how long for is anyone's guess  After picking it up we went for a bit of a drive, Jebus I really enjoy driving this little thing, hopefully the weather let's us go for a nice long cruise this weekend as it will be out of my hands for at least a few days next week when it heads back into Mania on Monday It's weird, whilst I do always enjoy going for a drive, the NC makes me feel like a kid who has just got his first car, and they just want to drive wherever and whenever they can I really need to look into the MX5 Club of NSW
    • wow that is some seriously JDM original credibility there!
